    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Game comes out on Friday, great timing for me as I'm off from work as well that day. This game has been talked about alot in the the other thread about games we are looking forward to, but I thought that now that the game was coming out it would be a good time to give this game it's own thread. My expectations for this game are pretty high and there isn't anything I've seen/read that has given me cause concern. Can't wait to start exploring!

I've never been as stoked for any kind of media as I am for Skyrim. I'm not even that much of a gamer. Hell, I hadn't even switched on my xbox since moving into my place the spring before last. But just the hint of a new Elder Scroll had me right back into Oblivion.

I used under leveling in Oblivion as well and finished the main quest at Lvl. 14 which robbed me of fighting the better leveled enemies and obtaining better gear. Definitely looking for some redemption in Skyrim

What kind of characters do you guys play?

Right now I'm leaning towards selecting a wood elf.

Right now I'm just avoiding the game like the plague until winter break.

I've come to this thread about five times trying to come up with something better than "I AM SO EXCITED" but that's pretty much all I got. I can't wait to kill dragons.

I am a blonde, bearded Imperial named Butt Destroyer. This game is a lot of fun.

Two questions. I have never played an Elder Scrolls game before. Would that detract from my understanding of Skyrim? Also, if I am a fan of the Fallout games, is there a good chance I will like the gameplay? Very different setting, obviously, but I enjoy the Fallout gameplay way better than shooter games.

It's the same engine and game play of Fallout, just instead of guns, you have swords, axes, and bows and magic. I'm only a couple minutes in, but it's been really fun so far.

    Also, minus the VATS mechanic.

Oh, I met the giants. I was just trying to talk to them.

I'm wandering off as a level 2 and it's not really paying off. It's hard to get away from combat and I'm getting handled pretty easily.

I tried saying hello to them at level 3. By "hello," I mean that I tried to sneak an arrow shot on them. Then they sent me 200 feet into the air.

I now give their camp a very, very, very wide berth when I go by it.

I'm personally going pure mage (armor is for sissies who can't take a hit) to kill everything with fire.
