So, is anybody else participating in this weekend's stress test? I was a bit late accepting my invite so I didn't get to play yesterday, but should clock some time today.
From what I've heard, it provides a fairly enjoyable single-player experience. The quests are all voice-acted, and regardless of whether you play Alliance or Sith, you can make light- or dark-side choices as you play.
I don't know that I'll actually buy and subscribe, but I'm pretty interested to see what BioWare has done.
I did the last stress test, and I couldn't put in as much time as I wanted. It wasn't bad though, lots of nice touches. But for the same reason I couldn't put much time in to the test I'll probably not buy and subscribe.
I played the stress test weekend and have been playing since yesterday. It's really addictive and I'm not really a Star Wars fan (I don't dislike it, just not crazy about it like some people are). I've really enjoyed the game so far and will definitely be pre-ordering soon.
Well color me impressed. I have no idea what they did for endgame content, but the quest leveling is fantastic. Voice-acting is well done, and is a pretty ingenious way to stretch content out by forcing conversations to last as long as they do. I'm sure it would be annoying when leveling your third or fourth character through, but it's fun for now.
Character creation felt limited, but I think it's mostly because all the races look too human. Green-skinned humans, normal humans, blind humans, humans with face horns, humans with head tentacles, etc. And for the most part, they're all equally-sized. In fantasy MMOs, even though they tend to stick with the sandard tropes of elves, dwarves and humans, they usually vary in size and build enough to feel unique. I don't get that feeling here.
Combat is smooth and enjoyable. Standard hotbar+keybinds.
PvP warzones have potential, but at the moment there seems to be no real level restrictions, so you end up at 13 going against players in the 20's. I'm sure that will change for live.
Played mostly as a Sith Inquisitor, choosing the Assassin path (typical Thief class). Biggest issue is not being able to get out of combat to re-stealth. I like the use of force powers; it feels more like a battlemage.
My friend played as a Smuggler. Biggest compliment she had was that she didn't have "lightsaber envy". The class feels as strong and potent as the Jedi/Sith classes, and was fun overall.
I would preorder it, but I just don't think I have the time to make a monthly subscription worth it.
Timing is my issue as well. Loved the first two games and a buddy has told me that it is good, but I don't think I'll have enough time to play. Maybe by summer 2013 if it is still popular, which it should be, I'll give it a ride.
Pre-ordered it (finally) today to get the early access for next weekend.
A friend of mine had no trouble getting the launcher installed and the download stated but for some reason mine keeps saying that the server is not responding. We both started trying to download almost precisely the same time so it's not an issue of timing.
I hope they figure it out soon so that I can get it downloaded and installed without frustration.
A group of my friends and I are on the Fatman server if anyone wants to join us!
I think my friends rolled characters on one of the RP-PVP servers.
Well, one of my good friends gifted me the game and a 6-month subscription over the holidays. I haven't had a ton of time to play, but I feel like it'd be worth the subscription fee if I had paid myself.
I'm playing on Jung Ma, a RP-PvP server. My biggest gripe thus far is the lack of overlapping quest areas for Republic and Empire characters. I haven't found much open PvP, though I know at level cap there is some to be found.
I've been playing pretty much solo for most of my time, aside from grouping up for the instanced Flashpoints, and queueing for PvP Warzones. The stories are very well done, in my opinion. I am looking forward to the addition of neutral gear. Right now, there is only bonus gear for being Light or Dark sided, but I like to make decisions on an individual basis rather than grinding purely one side or the other.
The Sith Warrior story has been really fun, as has the Republic Trooper. I really like that I can log in and do a quest or two and log out. The only other MMO I played was FFXI, and it just didn't have that accessibility when I played (though I still loved the game). I don't know how the endgame events are just yet, but I know there have been complaints. Of course, many people don't take into consideration that the game is very new. They just added some content the other day in a patch, and the next content patch is scheduled for March, I believe. If they continue on that sort of schedule (3-4 months per content patch), the game will be highly successful.
Even if I only get through the various class stories and unsubscribe, I'll have found it to have been worth my time.
It never had that at any time. I played that game for years and never spent less than 3 hours at any one sitting, with the average being near 10-12. Most of that was spent getting a group together, getting to the location, and finding a good grinding spot. I absolutely loved that game and honestly would still log on to play if they weren't being so dumb about USA/Canada credit cards, but MMO's nowadays are more like what you've described above.
I just picked this game up, really enjoying it. I'm playing on Shein(sp) server, which is RP-PVE, I rolled a BH > Mercenary and while I'm only level 12, I'm enjoying blowing things to pieces. I don't have a lot of time to play, so it will take me forever to level, but I am really impressed with the game so far.
Bounty Hunter is really fun. Agent is cool, too. I like that they made the non-Jedi/Sith classes satisfying to play, so there's not a whole lot of "lightsaber envy". I'm playing my BH as a Powertech. It's really fun in the PVP Warzones. That's at 25 now. I also have a Warrior (Juggernaut) at 40, and an Inquisitor (Assassin) that I've kind of abandoned at 25. I mostly play the BH, but level the Juggernaut to keep up with a friend who tends to have trouble on his class quests.
