Nice to see there is a little sanity left on the board. The crying and whining over this is honestly embarrassing for OH. People have determined that player's acquired are garbage and the minor league players traded have such huge upsides. Please, our system is not in the top half of MLB and the highest guy we traded was Miclat, a potential utility guy? This is what people are gnashing their teeth over? Ridiculous.
If people want to get upset about the overall direction of the offseason or lack of impact moves then go right ahead, even though I think that's premature still. At the end of the day we traded away C level guys at best in an organization that hasn't seen a C level prospect come up and become a contributor in a long time.
Eveland may end up become a solid back of the rotation guy or he may end up another AAA depth guy. Trading a wild A-ball pitcher who put up nearly a 5.00 ERA at 21-years old and an non prospect for him is a decent trade. Adding depth guys is not the worse thing in the world, especially when we starting guys last year that had no business starting in the MLB.
Did these trades change the Orioles fortunes, nope. Not every move is going to do that. The Orioles need to do more this offseason, but that's for another thread.

Wait, you mean the Orioles aren't sitting at home on there computer pulling up career stats determining whether a guy is good or not? You mean the Orioles may have some reports on the guy that suggests he's found soemthing that might be successful? No, the mob has spoken. Clearly he's garbage-trash and clearly Duquette has traded away future potential superstars to get him. Dumb, dumb Orioles!!!

Honestly Tony ...Are you really buying that this is a good move for the O's? I'll gladly bet you lunch that Eveland's ERA is over 5.50. Winner picks the place....What do you say. Even if he is better than every guy on the list the Orioles need to do better and there's no excuse to bring AAAA fodder into the organization.

Oh, please. This is the same hopeful rationale we got after the Atkins signing - "they can't be so dumb as to just sign him on a whim, right? they must have a reason or something they want to alter, right? right?"
Nope.
Why are you giving the O's the benefit of the doubt again? That's what really bothers me in this thread - I'm all about rational objectivity, but why do people keep bending over backwards to find a reason to excuse the O's? It's stupid.
