Rooney Mara in The Girl With the Dragon Tatt

    Rooney Mara is spectacular!

I saw the Swedish versions of the trilogy and thought it impossible to replace Noomi Rapace but she did.

"Noomi Rapace's performance as Lisbeth Salander in the original Swedish version of M?n som hatar kvinnor was so well received, a campaign to have her reprise the role in the English language version gained wide attention in the media, championed by legendary film critic Roger Ebert, among others. Ultimately Repace declined to reprise the role, saying that after playing the character for three years (during the filming of the original film and its sequels), she couldn't play the role again in the same stories."

Another tidbit to make you warm....

"The piercings (including multiple ear, eyebrow, and nipple piercings) that Rooney Mara sports as Lisbeth Salander are real, not cosmetic simulations. Mara got the piercings in a series of sessions in Brooklyn and Sweden."

    More on the piercings:

Still, she tells Allure magazine that getting her nipples pierced felt like the right move to fully inhabit the character.

"I’m naked quite a lot in the movie, and I thought, she has it in the book, and she should have it [in the movie]," Mara explains. "Because of all the tattoos and the makeup and the piercings, and the physical transformations my body has to go through, it would always feel sort of like I was in costume, even if I was naked. It just felt like a good [piercing] to get — a necessary one to get."

GWTDT (English version) was longer but at least as well done. Any thoughts?

Oh yeah, Daniel Craig did a nice job also.

I admire the professionalism of an actress that would get her nipple pierced for a role.

That commitment makes up for the fact that she's the kid of a Mara AND a Rooney (the owners of the Giants and Steelers, respectively, for the non-football fans among us).

I liked the movie, but I can't say I found Lisbeth even remotely sexy.

She is kind of harsh looking in that. But beautiful normally.

Wow! A friend asked me if I had a choice between his blonde girlfriend and Lisbeth (well Rooney). I just gave him a look as if to say no choice whatsoever - (meaning Lisbeth hands down all day). I just like the goth look I guess but her eyes and thin nature....and I'm 68 and the blonde is a bit closer to my age - guess I'm "sick".....but maybe as scOtt says, if Rooney looked "normal", I'd then take the older woman?????

As if I'd ever have the choice...

It is a good thing for the human race that different men have different taste in women, and vice versa. I'm not a fan of goth, or piercings, or tatoos, or pale skin.

I'm with you too. I said she's harsh looking, but that's not necessarily a BAD thing. And boots would look nice too.

I prefer her older sister, Kate, eventhough Rooney is still pretty hot if you ask me.
