Ugh the Lakers lose to Detroit despite a huge game from the big 3. Bynum, Pau, and Bryant accounted for 72 of the 85 points and they lose. Just terrible. They are like a medium-talent NCAA team when it comes to Home/Road splits.

If there was ever a game that showed just how awful the Lakers bench and depth is it was the Pistons game last night. Any time you get that kind of production from your main core, especially against a bad team like Detroit, you need to win.
They're in trouble come playoff time the first time they don't have home court in a series (which is looking more and more like round 2 although I still think they can pass the Clippers and Spurs for the 2 seed).

PG has been a black hole for the past few seasons. It was masked during the two title runs because Kobe was younger and could do more himself and Odom was also a capable ball handler but the lack of production from the position really hurt.
My plan? Wait and see what happens with D Will. It's looking like the Nets won't be able to trade for Howard with Lopez hurt again which means D Will is gone. Amnesty Artest (set to make almost $15 million over the next two years) and make a push for him -- try to move Gasol as well if you have to to clear up cap space. Dallas might be the more attractive option because he's from Texas and there is no income tax in Texas but it's tough to say no to Kobe and the Lakers.

The Lakers get enough offense from the Big 3 generally that they don't need a Monta Ellis type "scorer." What they need are bench players that actually provide some sort of offense. Originally Posted by Sports Guy

The Nets can still sign Howard in the offseason and him and DWill stay.
Getting Howard over Bynum gives you more of a sure thing but agree its not goin go improve you that much.

Yea they have Kapono but, like Nick Young on the Wizards, if his shots aren't falling it's basically 4 on 5 out there. Not speaking for the Lakers, but personally, if I were a GM, I'd have very little use for a player that plays zero defense and can't create his own shot. Originally Posted by Sports Guy

They really need a point guard. End of story. Fisher isn't cutting it. Because of the triangle offense the PG spot has been week for a long time. Now its a screaming hole. We've had fodder level guys at PG forever and right now we just need someone who can get the job done. Jameer Nelson or Ramon Sessions.
Just not sure who the Lakers have to trade outside of Gasol.

And then they lose to the freaking Wizards tonight!
And on top of that, they give up 106 points.
That's really horrible.
Second straight night where Kobe had an AWFUL shooting night.

This has got to stop.Away from home, the Los Angeles Lakers are a terrible basketball team. They blew an 18-point lead in the second half Wednesday night, falling 106-101 to the terrible Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center.

The bench isn't good, but 8-26 is rather awful. So they got good production from 2/3 of their core and that 2/3 should have gotten the ball more. Same with the Wizards game. Originally Posted by Pedro Cerrano

Regarding the bench, McRoberts and Murphy are both good bench players. The problem is they play where the team is strongest.
SF is a disaster from a starting and bench perspective while PG is a disaster from a starting perspective.
