I am 32 and just realized that I needed glasses but maybe have needed them for a few years. Its hard to tell when you you need because your eyes adjust and you forget what things look like and you just take in as that is how it always has looked. So no I don't blame the person who really doesn't know when they first start needing glasses/contacts.

Having been subject to vision correction, I can tell when something is off. Maybe that's because I've had to think about it for so long. In the case of Rogers, though, having dead-on sight is something that I would consider important to athletic performance. Unless he truly has had no other frame of reference - that is, the vision has always been just a little off, it's a little hard for me to understand. Not to take away from your point, though, which is interesting.
