Talented, but outside of Haynesworth and Lloyd, I don't there's been a player that I've liked less in recent history.

If there is a lessen here somewhere, it would be that they should target guys with talent who just can't find themselves on their existing team. Guys who have something to prove. Two TEs that I think may fit that bill are Pettigrew and Bennett.
I'm not even arguing that they should have kept him. I just like to point out when people are or have taken incorrect extreme positions like Carlos Rodgers sucks.

No opinion can ever be incorrect. So point out you being "right" all you want, it doesn't make it true because it's still an opinion. I just don't know why you want to battle about it so fiercely sometimes.

I personally don't think Rogers is a good corner based on his pass defending skills. Now this season has shown that he actually DOES have some, and if I see that again next year, then good for him, but I still think he sucked when he was here. It's just because I personally have the view that CB need to be able to defend airborne attacks, not just be able to stay close to a guy and tackle him after the catch, or play the run well. That's what we have LB for It's just how I view CB. You view them differently, and that's cool, but I would never argue with you to change your opinion on them because I view it as being an incorrect extreme position.

I have friends that are Skins fans that think Rodgers cost them a birth in the NFC Title game in 2006. None of them are particularly fond of Rodgers and call him "inconsistent" at best.

You think this is fiercely battling? Haha

He had fine pass defending skills, just not pass catching skills. Not the same thing.

I'm not trying to get you to change any opinion. Just a little taunt because a guy that you said was awful is in the pro bowl now.

And yes, of course opinions can be incorrect. If I said Aaron Rodgers was the worst QB in the NFL, that would be an incorrect opinion.

Here's some facts that back up him having fine pass defending skills:

Led the league in pass deflections in 2008 with 24.
    14th in 2006 with 17.
A respectable 12 each of the past two years.
    18 this year.

Nothing unusual about guys in San Francisco catching balls.

Really is something about that city though, Walt Harris was even good there.

Especially right after he left D.C. I wonder how often that really happens with players, and I mean across the sports. It seems like many just can't wait to leave (especially football/basketball), and often do well elsewhere. Perhaps lacks of general good play and championships make it seem that way.

To everyone talking about Carlos Rogers,

It all changed this year because he got contact lenses. The 49ers made him get an eye exam - and there you have it. Contacts.

That's interesting. Too bad the Skins didn't catch that. They could have turned a solid to good corner who could play the ball into a good to very good one who could catch the ball.

If this is true, then it is absurdly ridiculous. This guy was a 9th overall draft pick! They didn't think to check if he could see?! DeMarcus Ware went two picks later. Can I get an eye exam for every player on my favorite teams, please?! Start with Ovechkin, and then move on to Grossman (hey, it's worth a shot, right?) #FML

And contract year. He got humbled in FA and got serious. He can't live on Jason campbell's couch forever.

It also begs the question, "Why the hell couldn't he tell them he couldn't see?" Doesn't absolve the team, but it's a bit of a two-way street, eh?

He did cost us a berth in the 2006 NFC title game all because he had stone hands. That ball practically hit him directly in the facemask and he had both hands on it. He catches it and he had nothing between him and the endzone.

And for that, I'll never forgive him. It's like a freakin Buckner play.

I am 32 and just realized that I needed glasses but maybe have needed them for a few years. Its hard to tell when you need them because your eyes adjust and you forget what things look like and you just take in as that is how it always has looked. So no I don't blame the person who really doesn't know when they first start needing glasses/contacts.
