    NFL Coaching Changes Thread

Just thought we could create a thread to follow all this:

    Buccaneers: fired Raheem Morris
Rams: fired coach Spagnuolo and GM Devaney
Chiefs: fired Todd Haley, Romeo Crennel took over and went 2-1, beating the Packers.
Dolphins: fired Tony Sparano, interim coach Todd Bowles went 2-1 to finish season.

    Still on the hot seat:
    Cowboys: Jason Garrett
Giants: Tom Coughlin (but with making the playoffs, may have saved his job)

    Possible coaches to be hired:
    Jon Gruden
    Bill Cowher
    Jeff Fisher

    EDITS:
1/3: Removed Norv Turner from hot seat. (See post #13)
    1/11: Jaguars hired Mike Mularkey

Not coaches, but ESPN is reporting Indy has fired Bill and Chris Polian. Have to think that means Caldwell is out too.

Yup. I've read that as long as the Polians stay, Caldwell would as well.

This could also be an indication that Irsay intends to part ways with Manning and remake that entire franchise. They have a lot of other free agents too, so maybe they will build with new players around Luck starting this offseason.

Well, it's a similar source, but the ProFootballTalk guy (Fiorio?) was saying the same thing last week on the Football Night in America show.

I think that this was one of Coughlin's better years. They were decimated by injuries at the beginning of the season.

Norv is likely gone and it could be a combo firing with the GM. I could see Gruden going there. Althouh I was him or Cowher or Dungy, I just don't think I'd leave their cushy jobs.

If Turner is fired, I would think SD would be the most attractive opening there is for the big name guys currently working in TV, given the that the talent is there to win immediately.

Indications were that the Polians were planning on drafting Luck, and some friction between them and Manning became evident over the past few weeks.

If that's true, I think Irsay is making a big mistake, if his plan is to pass on Luck.

Well that we don't know yet. It could just be Irsay realizing that the Polians made a team that was basically one man deep in Manning. For that team to win 2 games just because Manning was out is a joke.

Not surprising that Fisher is interviewing with STL. I read somewhere that his agent is related to someone in the STL front office.

Looks like he'll have several choices as to where he wants to coach next year.

I simply don't get the Jeff Fisher fascination. Never really have, honestly. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but I just don't get it. He had plenty of talent in Tennessee, and outside of the Super Bowl appearance, they never really lived up to it. Frankly, you can pin a lot of the same criticisms on him that you could on Brian Billick, in terms of not winning playoff games, squandering good seasons, good/great defenses but not getting anywhere with it, etc.

Chargers announce Norv Turner and AJ Smith will be back

Surprising. Given their talent, I'm not sure there's been a more underachieving team in the NFL over the past couple seasons (except Philly maybe).

Norv Turner must be the only coach in the world to be a head coach for 15 plus years and have a sub 500 record
