Harry Potter
Moneyball
Win Win
Midnight in Paris
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
50/50
Source Code
The Descendants
The Lincoln Lawyer
Beginners
The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo (U.S. version)
Super 8
Bridesmaids
Drive
Crazy, Stupid Love
Horrible Bosses
The Adjustment Bureau
The Green Hornet
Rango (saw on an airplane, not in a theater)
Really, all of these were decent or better, but I didn't see anything that I consider worthy of Best Picture. If I had to vote for my top 5:
1. Win Win
2. 50/50
3. Super 8
4. Midnight in Paris
5. The Lincoln Lawyer
I'll have to put a list together but a lot movies I still need to see. I agree win win was great.
I have not seen a single movie on that list and I'm pretty sure it was the same case last year. I am hopelessly out of touch.
There are still quite a lot of movies I haven't seen yet but of all the movies I have seen, my top ten list looks like:
1. Drive
2. Crazy, Stupid, Love
3. Bridesmaids
4. The Descendants
5. Beginners
6. Captain America
7. Super 8
8. The Lincoln Lawyer
9. Source Code
10. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
(11. Take Shelter)
I've seen the above. Also:
Young Adult
Fright Night
Jane Eyre
Cedar Rapids
Our Idiot Brother
Submarine
Everything Must Go
Tucker and Dale v. Evil
The Trip
Certified Copy
I haven't seen, but would have to consider:
Meek's Cutoff
Hugo
The Descendants
The Devil's Double
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Brighton Rock
Shame
A Dangerous Method
Margaret
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Martha Marcy May Marlene
Moneyball
Take Shelter
I doubt I could rank them. Though I enjoyed many of them. Certified Copy may have been the best I saw. Drive was fascinating, in its muted way. Jane Eyre is fantastic. And I'm deeply-biased about Young Adult (because I taught Diablo Cody in two writing classes when she was an undergrad).
I plan on seeing the Descendants, Take Shelter, ADM, Hugo, ROTPOA, Margaret, Hugo, and TTSS. I'm guessing that the Descendants, TTSS and Hugo will find their way toward the top of my list.

Oh yeah, I saw Captain America, too. So, that's 20.
Melancholia is worth noting, but Von Trier drives me nuts, so the odds are only 50-50 that I'll see it.
She's still learning, but she's got a knack. I taught her in Intro to Creative Writing (poetry & fiction) and then in a high-level poetry workshop (which I recruited her for). She showed back more than a hint of the sharp cultural eye and good ear that drives her work now.*
*Needless to say, Diablo Cody is not her real name.
Lets add a few documentaries to this list.
Cave of Forgotten Dreams. Just a beautifully shot journey into an amazing place. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kULws...layer_embedded
Being Elmo. Incredibly moving and joyous, and a lot of Baltimore in there to boot. http://beingelmo.com/trailer.html
Haven't seen yet but heard great things about The Interruptors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS5Hj...layer_embedded

I am sitting down to start Super 8 right now. I'm excited to finally have time to myself to watch it!
My favorite movies of the year were probably Take Shelter & Drive with Young Adult worthy of mention, but I still have quite a few to see. I enjoyed Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Cedar Rapids far more than I expected to.
I loved all the different pieces of Jane Eyre (the atmosphere, performances, score, cinematography) but it just didn't come together for me.
I've fought with so many people about Bridesmaids. I loved it for what it was but man, I feel like I'm the only one.
