    Question Refrigerator Repair

In an attempt to defrost my Haier mini fridge (ok, it's a kegerator) with a screwdriver, I put a small hole in my plate evaporator. I can buy a replacement evap plate from Haier for only $30, but will that fix my problem? Will I need to get a freon charge? Am I just totally screwed?

    Thanks for any tips.

Did you post for a repair on Craig's list? The refrigerent would be gone, but I would assume that a low Temp guy might moonlight on this job. Ask around. Heck there may be someone here.

Didn't post on Craigslist, but that's a good idea. I was told it would be $300 - $350 to repair it though. I think she's dead.

Ok. Totally random. What about a local auto mechanic. Braise the evap plate and refill? Is there a Fridgent valve? http://www.ehow.com/how_6582136_add-...rigerator.html

Again, off the wall. Thought maybe it would work. If not are you able to replace the evaporater yourself and get a kit at an auto parts store? /MacGyver.
