The deal w Chen, 26, is believed to be a 3year deal -- tho possible that 3rd year kicks in as a vesting option.

I'm very excited to hear this! He was the only FA starter I wanted to sign.

For what it's worth Rosenthal says we're close to signing Chen.

FWIW Part 2: I work full-time at large sports web site and a co-worker told me he heard this deal was done a few days ago and they were just waiting to announce it.

    Great signing, IMO.

Now if they can get EJack for 4/40 - 4/44 this could develop into a solid rotation in 2013/2014

Yeah that's going to be a real good signing for the Orioles, especially consider he's only 26. Too many guys come here from over there at a later age and their value is immediately diminished.

As I said last night, I prefer this to Maholm, Saunders, or Jackson. Sounds good to me. Interested to hear the financial details. Gotta wonder how the rotation sizes up right now. If this isn't a precursor for trading Guthrie, then I think Arrieta to the bullpen is a serious possibility.

What worries me most however is the report that he doesn't hide the ball well in his delivery. David Ortiz said that was Brian Matusz' biggest problem was last year. Wouldn't want that.

I am very excited about this. I guess we will need two interpreters in the dugout this year.
