    Las Vegas Sportsbooks

I am headed to Vegas in mid-march for the second weekend of the tournament. I am pretty familiar with Vegas but not too familiar with the Sportsbook scene (I mostly play craps).

For those that have spent some time in a Sportsbook what is the drink situation? Is there a certain limit you have to bet to get free booze? I've heard at places like the MGM you need to bet at least $250 on a game to get ONE drink ticket which seems absurd since people playing nickel slots all day get boozed up.

Anyone prefer a certain sportsbook over another?

    Thanks in advance.

I can't speak for all of them, but I stayed at Southpoint last month and they handed me four or so drink coupons when I made 10 bets of $10 each. Southpoint is a few miles from the strip, but it's a quality place with a ton of places to sit and watch games.

    Where are you staying?

One year we were at the Imperial Palace, placed our bets at the sports book, and then went up stairs to the conference center. There were about 10-12 huge screen projectors around the room with a ton of circular tables that sat about 16 a piece. We brought in beer and had pizza delivered. It was an awesome scene. You can get comps for drinks, but if you want to drink heavily for cheap, this is the way to go. (BTW, I'm pretty sure it was the IP. If not it was Treasure Island. We did these back-to-back years and the details are foggy).

A testament to the free drinks I'm sure.

I went out this year for the week the Ravens lost to Seattle. We made a series of 5 or 6 bets that day (it was a good day and we had a $10 parlay down on 6 games and the Ravens blew it for us...anyway) and at Planet Hollywood I made 3 bets for $50 each and they gave me three tickets. At the Flamingo similar story, but it was more tickets for more bets for less money. I think I put down on 6 games for like $20 each and got 4 or so tickets.

The biggest issue IMO is finding a sports book with good space to sit, nice TVs, etc. I generally found they all fill up fairly quick and honestly are not great sports watching venues.

We actually ended up spending our College Football Day at Planet Hollywood, and we'd make our bets but inside the mall area they had a bar with pretty good drink deals. No idea what it was called, but they had several TVs and it was pretty cheap all in all.

A bit of online research seems to bear the Caesars/Harrah's places have discretion. That's PH, Bally's, Harrah's, Caesar's, IP. Hilton and Mandalay Bay will give you drinks if you've got a wagering ticket. I've been to neither of the latter.

I'll say this, if you want a cool experience and you're there with a few other people (neither may be true for you ) go to Lagasse Stadium for a game. You'll pay a premium on food/drinks, but it's super cool. Stadium seating, good views of all TVs, and a new integrated in game betting system (though this may only be for football) where you can make small prop bets throughout the game. Very fun, it got a bit costly though.

It varies by the Sportsbook. The bigger the name, the more you have to spend.

Where are you staying? I can try and get some free tokens for you if you let me know where you will be.

Planet Hollywood, the Venetian and the Bellagio were all very nice.

I haven't been in all of them but those were the nicest ones I saw.

I watched a Duke/UNC game from the one in PH. Very comfortable.

Do you recall how easy it was to obtain drink tickets? If getting drink tickets is hard, I'd just as soon place my wagers and go find a sports bar with cheaper beers that may or may not have specials during the games. Paying full price for drinks in a casino is for suckers.

Not sure I know anyone there but I'll check into it. I've stayed at PH a few times since they remodeled and the SB is quite nice.

At PH they just hand them out to you. I didn't even ask and I got 4 when I was there. I'm guessing if you asked or pressured you could get more.
