If it were Paterno's grandkids that Sandusky were raping when McQueary told him what he did that day in 1999, it wouldn't have continued for 10 minutes, let alone 10-plus years.

Apparently it is up to you because you're the one calling him a coward, even though nothing could be further from the truth. He admitted that he made a mistake by passing it off to his superiors, but that's not what you want to hear. You want him to say that he covered it up to protect his football program, while there is no evidence to support this claim. You want him to be disgraced because you believe that he was an evil man that only cared about football. You know nothing about the man, and I hope someday that I can be a tenth of the man that Joe Paterno was because then I will know that I have lived a full, happy, and great life filled with great, positive impact. The fact that you don't even know what year the incident happened (it was 2002, not 1998) really does show your ignorance on the subject, so please shut up when you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

Correct. And again, if it were Paterno's grandkids in that shower, it wouldn't have continued for a day, an hour, half an hour. If Paterno himself did not go immediately into the shower with a bat and been up on charges for assault with a deadly weapon, at the very least, Sandusky would have been in jail that day, and never again nowhere near the campus.

Wrong. 9 years or 13 years is incidental. Trying to make a point of the difference between 1998 or 2002 is pathetic, and shows how much you are reaching. Oh, I see. He only allowed it happen for 9 years and not 13 years, which makes all the difference, and proves how ignorant I am. Yeah, right. And no, I'm not going to shut up because someone like yourself who has the audacity to continue to defend the disgusting behavior of Paterno an the entire PSU administration for the crimes that they allowed to continually happen.

First of all, yes, I believe that Paterno put football above child abuse. Second off all, regardless off what I believe or what I think, Paterno did put football above child abuse. That's the bottom line.

My point wasn't that 9 years or 13 years matters. My point was that when you don't even have the simplest information right, why should anybody believe that you have any insight or knowledge on the situation beyond what has been fed to you by the media. The fact that you feel the need to focus on little bits on my responses and not the important parts is what is truly pathetic. Then, you try and paint me as some bad person that is defending the actions of everybody involved. I have never defended Sandusky, Curley, Schultz, or Spanier. I have never defended the people that went out there that night after Paterno was fired and rioted like morons. I defended Joe Paterno's motives, not his actions. I defended the people of the university that wanted nothing to do with the riot. I have defended the right side of this, and if anybody has blinders on, it is you. Based on the information out there, nobody can definitively say that Joe Paterno was a bad man who covered up child rape to protect his football program. Well...they can say it, but they can't prove it because it's not true.

Wrong. I'm cutting through all the smokescreen bullspit that you try to use to deflect the atrocities that Paterno and everyone else at PSU allowed to happen. If you can sit there with a straight face and tell me that Paterno would have handled it the same way if it were his grandkids in the shower when McQuery reported it to him, you need a severe reality check. And if you can't say that he would have handled it the same way with a straight face, then Paterno is flat out guilty of moral crimes, plain and simple.

I believe this thread has run its course. Please...if you have more to say on the subject, politely take it to PM's and keep it civil. DO NOT start another thread, though. Thanks!
