As If The Pro Bowl Wasn't Bad Enough...

Several Ravens are dropping out of it. Ryan Clark will be replacing Ed Reed at safety, and Suggs, Ngata, and Ray Rice will also be missing for a variety of reasons. I don't watch the Pro Bowl save for a minute or two, but any reason I had to watch is officially gone. But hey, I'm sure Ray will be there and do his usual made for tv speeches about what an honor it is to be there and the usual stuff.

Yeah, I'd rather not have any Ravens players playing in it.

I'd share these sentiments if it were because they were playing in the Super Bowl.

The Pro Bowl is a joke.

Just announce an "All-Pro team" for the AFC and the NFC, give each player some plaque, and be done with it.

Never. They NFL wont give up the opportunity to overcharge for tickets, and the stadium will miss out on all those $8 beers.

Not that I would have watched anyway, But now I have even more reasons to skip it.

And am I the only one who has no intention of watching the Super Bowl either? I mean seriously, I have zero desire to watch that game.

    Ditto.

Part of me wants to root for the giants just because the Pats are the ones that beat us but I feel like that's rooting for the Yankees.

I was planning on watching the Pro Bowl but now that there's hardly any Ravens in it, I don't see the point. It's just a throwing contest now.

The Pro Bowl is an idea whose time has come and gone. It's little more than a watered down all-star game where players only risk injury for the upcoming season. I realize it's myopic to think the NFL would ever get rid of it (big $$$$) but an all-pro designation after the Big Dance would be better. The NFL could keep the results private and then have a TV show (ala the draft, ESPYs etc) where each player would be announced and then certain coaches, players and selected fans would have a brief cameo soundbite about the announced players. I would much rather watch this kind of show versus the Pro Bowl (that I never watch).

    Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Commissioner Roger Goodell told ESPN's Mike and Mike that, after what he saw last Sunday, the NFL will consider eliminating the Pro Bowl.
