Pro Bowl Could be on its Way Out: Which Would You Rather Watch?

Goodell is saying that with the poor quality of play in the Pro Bowl recently, it is possible that the all star game could be eliminated. It's a game that literally nobody cares about whatsoever (I can't remember the last time I tuned in), and now that it's BEFORE the Super Bowl, it's even worse.

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/75...-consideration

This got me thinking. What would you rather watch between the Pro Bowl, or a matchup of the Conference Championship losers? I don't know that the NFLPA would go for it, but I'd much rather see the Ravens and the Niners playing in Hawaii. There would have to be something at stake, and that would be the hard part to figure out.

    Just a random thought.

The Pro Bowl is an abomination. Even the NBA All Star game is more exciting. Heck, a pee-wee football league all star game would be more exciting. Have an All Star roster, as voted how it usually is, and even have a ceremony in Hawaii or Miami, but enough of the game. It jumped the shark decades ago, and it truly is a disgrace to any football fan out there.

I would have no interest in either.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like a real, decent skill competition. Maybe throw in some significant cash to see if you can get guys interested.

I wouldn't care to watch a third place game either.

Either to skills competition or just do away with the whole thing.

As long as the Pro Bowl is a money maker, it's not going anywhere, though.

Good points... a really great skill competition would be much more fun than both. It would be too hard to drum up any real emotion for a 3rd place game.

Yeah for all the hype the Combine gets, skills would be a good idea.

I seem to remember something like this before. Right before Brees was not resigned by SD, I seem to remember him winning some challenge of throwing a ball through tires.

I have no idea what that was for, or when that was, but they had a whole skills challenge and it was pretty cool.

Something that's been missing from NFL skill competitions is a freestyle, show-me-some-kind-of-freak-athletic-move-that-only-you-can-do sort of event. Anything with a football goes. Kinda like the Slam Dunk contest in the NBA. The bench press competition is cool, the QB competition is cool, etc, but they're confined. I want to see something new and crazy every year.

If for some reason they do keep the Pro Bowl as they have it now, I'd like it moved back to after the Super Bowl.

I voted for the Ladies Underwear Bowl - but that's just me and I often respect the views of others...

    Agreed.

I don't think a "third-place game" is needed or warranted.

Oh, and Bob...isn't that every day anyway?

Im sure it was moved to before the SB to try and give it some relevance. However, after the SB is better - at least you can watch football one more time to get a lil football fix before the long offseason.

I watch the college skills challenge every year. I would watch a professional skills challenge.

How about a flag football game between NFL All Stars and NCAA national champions. Or NCAA All Stars.

Didn't they make some crazy decision to do that one year on sand. And some guy blew out his knee and his career?

But done on turf and the right way I think it's 100% a good idea. Though the past has to make the NFL hesitant. Just don't be stupid and play on sand.
