I understand the idea that what the O's do with their money is their business, and I don't know what they've paid here in the past in advertising, but I can't understand cutting it. I'm sure the amount is rather miniscule in the grand scheme of things for them.

I can 100% guarantee that my level of fandom has appreciated about 500% because of this site. The O's would do well to understand that these social-media sites drive fan interest and good will/bad will. If they were smart, they'd have a guy like Greg who, as part of his job, uses a user name to promote what the O's have done for their most die hard fans over the years. Comp tickets for Hangout night. Invite posters to banquets, etc. Media credentials for OH staff. It figures the O's are only known to do much of this stuff when they're screwing the pooch on the back end.

Can Angelos please sell this franchise?

I'd just like to point out that there are over 9,000 registered users on this site (not counting lurkers).

    9,000.

Yes, that's more than the O's ACTUALLY draw on many nights.

My theory is the Orioles don't want to spend money on a site that is going to routinely bash them.

It's like a restaurant not advertising in the paper that gave them a bad review.

Of course they could always just improve their food, but why would they do that? Enough people still drop in and spend their money, the owner still makes a nice income, etc.

$50,000 bought the O's 3.88 plate appearances by Vlad this past year. That was $50k well spent!!

Fine, then the O's could advertise on a site that blindly praises them while also generating lots of traffic from fans that appreciate that sort of thing.

Oh wait, that would never happen.

As was mentioned it also probably paid for 4-5 Justin Duchscherer rehab sessions as well.

Well they could always advertise somewhere else...like on buses and on 2 out of the 3 commercials that are played in-between innings during Oriole games instead of just 1 out of 3.

The people on this site are desperate for some positivity. We were largely behind AM beyond when we should have been. DD could get the same support with a few good moves. The problem is we don't trust that PA and Sons, inc. will allow any GM to actually make bold moves without first deliberating for 18-24 months.

    Mr Bader,

Please prove to me that the Orioles do not remain VERY profitable for Mr Angelos and I will completely understand.

Otherwise, I feel like this is just another tweek in a long line of insults towards the last sect of hard core supporters.

Here's some math: The amount I was going to spent on O's games this year: Probably $2,000. Amount I'll spend after your posts? Zip.

I'm utterly sick and tired of living and working in an area with a wide variety of baseball fans and being EMBARRASSED about my favorite team which represents my hometown. I have pride in where I'm from, and the Orioles continue to denigrate that. I'm at work right now and I've been laughed at THREE times for continuing to care about this team so much today alone.

Please restore my faith to an acceptable level and support the Hangout in a respectable fashion. Work it out.

    Sincerely,
    An about-to-be former O's fan

My wife and I usually go to at least 6 O's games a year.

I'm pretty sure I'm just going to Opening Day this year. So that's 5 less times I'll be spending $50 a ticket, $50 for beer, $50 for food, $50 for shirt.

The more I think about this, the more I think Mr. Bader stepped on himself with a golf cleat by posting on here. I hope this works out. I think we all would rather be discussing the Oriole's clean-up hitter's latest moonshot. I think we would trade these doldrums for being at the park rooting for a team that is the product of a respected organization.

I really don't like the general tone of the post by Mr Bader and, by extension, the Os. It's almost as if they are saying the Os are doing me a favor by letting me support them. F that. No more.
