I keep wanting to change Mr. Bader's title to "Master". (Wait for it...)
Are we sure that the Orioles are even aware that he posted his message on this site? Is there anyone above him in the chain of command that we could forward a link to his post?

It was $50k over the past 10 years I believe, so it's not about what 50k could get, but what 5k could get. This is all over PENNIES in the grand scheme to them, but to us it's a huge slap in the face, they don't understand the impact on small levels until enough groups of small people get together and suddenly there are 1.5M a year of them not supporting your product anymore.

This information should somehow reach the local media. This seemed to be handled pretty poorly by Mr. Bader, and by default, the Orioles organization.

Why give an addict their fix for free when they are already hooked? You need to give that free fix to non addicts so they can put money in your pockets once they are hooked...
Everyone who reads here and posts here are already "hooked" and I don't think they O's care about this portion of the population. Which is truly sad and makes me sick to think about. They can throw their pennies on a billboard on I-95 in hopes that they can get some fair weather fans into the Yard this season. Best of luck with that plan given the team they are planning on fielding come April.

Tony, what has changed this year from year's past? This is a reach, i'm sure, but does Duquette have anything to do with it?

Seriously. We're all sitting here watching the Orioles do a whole lot of nothing with on-field personnel and quite a few people are simmering about it (and a handful have boiled over). And you come on here to (1) disrespect Tony by preempting his announcement so you can get your side of the story out first and (2) reveal that this squabble is about some percentage of $50,000 that the Orioles don't want to spend? SERIOUSLY?
Greg, do you have even the slightest comprehension of what a huge mistake you've made posting here? There are people here who defend the organization day after day for not spending $X millions on Player Y or for trading one player for two players at the same price and you're going to come on here and literally complain about Tony being annoyed that you don't want to spend $50k? That is freakin' chump change in the grand scheme of your operations, my friend.

Anyone still question whether or not the Orioles care about winning?

I don't take it as a slap in the face. It's a business decision. They spend money when they think that they get a return on their investment. Apparently, they don't think that the extra interest drummed up on Orioles Hangout brings them $5,000 per year in revenue, and they don't think that reducing their support will cost them $5,000 per year in revenue. I think they will find out that they are wrong.
By the way, the Hangout Night tickets were discounted a little, but they weren't just given away. I don't know how many Hangout Night tickets got sold, but let's say it's 25 per game at $8 a pop. Right there, that's $1200 the O's won't be getting this year. And if the O's think that those fans will just come to some other game and pay full fare, they are wrong. Most of us already go to other games and go to Hangout Nights for the experience of being with the most rabid, knowledgeable group of Oriole fans that remain.

It's all over much less than that. They've spent "over $50,000 over the past few years", we don't know how many years, but that is a total, and he said they've been supporting the site for 10 years, so I'm willing to guess that's lifetime money spent, and closer to an average of $5,000 a year. Of course only two people really know for sure, but to risk alienating 9,000 users and fans over not wanting to spend $5,000 in advertising money seems STUPID to me, and coming out and doing it publicly on the board makes them look even worse, no matter how nice he tried to put things, he cast the first public stone.
