    Ricky Williams to retire

Just announced on the Vinny and Kenny Show. I was looking forward to having him back next year.

I don't think the Ravens were going to keep him if he didn't retire. The cap number didn't really jive with the comments about playing guys on Rookie Contracts by Biscotti. I see this as a short term way to free up a bit more space for Rice under the cap.

But Ricky was solid for us all year. I was a bit hard on him early, but he definitely had some quality production for us.

Well, they have to have a back up and Allen isn't reliable yet.

I just wonder if they are going to draft a RB in the first few rounds as a potential Rice replacement....They also have Berry on the PS, along with Allen.

Would love to see the Ravens go after a legit power back. RE just doesnt cut it, and could only get better with the addition of someone who can ne a threat when he can't. Lawfirm?

Best of luck to Ricky too. I bet that bakery will be awesome...

I would think he gets more than they want to spend.

I wonder if the Ravens look at Brandon Jacobs.

How can we afford Jacobs, but not afford Williams? I would expect Jacobs to be much more expensive considering that he has had big years in the recent past.

You know this from seeing how he's worked from the practice squad this year? I wonder if the Ravens made some indications to Williams about their young guys. It's too early to say the Ravens told him they were going in another direction due to the draft, IMO.

I agree we probably need a legitimate backup and I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2nd or 3rd rounder in here to potentially take that spot. But backs can emerge quickly, we'll see how the Ravens really feel about Berry/Allen I guess.

We really just need a grinder 3rd down, goal line guy like Jacobs. Then again...you always want a viable backup if Rice goes down. I think it's a tough decision on what to do no matter what.

I would like to see them work in Allen/Berry or draft someone. I'd like to stop signing these veteran guys to fill needs and get back to developing our own players. Especially at skill positions.

I think backup RB is a position of need at this point. I'd like to see a big guy. Several times at the end of the season Rice was in the game on 3rd or 4th and short and couldn't make it.

(But, that's probably on Cameron because he didn't use Williams or Leach in those positions.)

I'd love to see Marc Tyler as a late round pick up, he is a bulky back at 5-11 230. From what I have read, he has enough burst to get through the line and most defenders have trouble taking him down when he is running downhill.

God I hope not. I've never seen a guy that big try and cut so often. He is also a diva, and complains when doesn't get the ball. Not a raven player.

I think Allen is the thumper backup but I would like to see them get a quick twitch guy, in the mold of a Dexter McCluster.
