Who cares why he did it? If he is going to sulk, get him out of there. We have Edsall now, there is nothing we can do about it. If he doesn't want to play hard for him, adios.
He got the starting job back by default. He did nothing to earn it.
Because you are thinking in short term. DOB had a terrible season this year. You can point to whatever you want as the reasons. But if the reports are true, key words there, then I have no problem with him leaving. It makes sense to me. He sucked this year, and now Bruce is saying he didn't assume a leadership role in the offense. That aligns with what I saw on the field. Could it be wrong? Sure. But I don't really want a half assed DOB over any other QB on the roster. The program will move on. It might be tough this year at QB but I would rather have it that way for one year than to sit through 2 more years of what DOB did last year.
The thing is, I believe Edsall has to win in the short term to save his job. Otherwise we're looking at yet another coaching transition, more transfers, and another chance for Kevin Anderson to bumble his way to a questionable hire....which I'm sure some people might think is a good thing. But I'd rather just see UM win right now than have to wait a few more years. I'll tolerate Edsall's self-righteousness if he wins.
And personally, I observed nothing in DOB's body-language when he wasn't playing that indicated he was anything less than supportive of Brown and the team.
I agree with this, but the reports are from inside the locker room before and after the game. Its about taking a leadership role from the QB position. I think he has All ACC talent, I was just disappointed that it came to this. All I am saying is that if he wasn't taking a leadership role in the offense, I am not that upset he is leaving.
I don't know if its true or not, but that is my stance.
Jeff Barker of The Sun, who apparently was the closest member of the media to O'Brien and his family, indicated that DOB was "quietly unhappy" during the season. So perhaps that may help corroborate what Laird reported. I can only go by what I witnessed by watching him on TV and in reading his quotes, which was a guy who was supportive of his teammates and (pubicly) handled a difficult season and his pending departure with class. Given that evidence, I like the kid and wish that he was staying and perhaps could have found his 2010 form with a new OC. But I understand his desire for a fresh start elsewhere, feel he's earned it in a way by graduating from UM in 3 years, and wish him all the best.

Looks like he's heading to Wisconsin.

And I can't blame O'Brien for leaving one bit. In fact, I'm glad he left, for his own good. Anyone who believes new (outside) coaches don't come in and want ONLY their own recruits on the field is naive. I hope O'Brien runs with this new opportunity!
For any college athletes out there, you NEVER ever want a coaching change between your 4 or 5 years in a program, unless the new coach is from in-house. Play for the guy(s) who recruited you!! Trussstttttt me!
