I am visiting another stadium and was wondering if anyone has been to the GAP in Cincy? I am also going to see the Dayton Dragons. Also what to see in Cincy and eat. Is the chili that good? Thanks

I did Skyline Chili and it was terrible. Maybe it was because it had just opened and the temps hadn't gotten to the right level, but it was basically cold soup.

Montgomery Inn has great ribs and they proudly display the chunk of Evander Holyfield's ear that Tyson bit off near the front entrance. Within walking distance of GAP.

Never been to GAP but their waterfront is nice with the stadiums there.

I've been to Great American several times and I like the park. Similar feeling to Nats Park, but I like it better because of the view of the Ohio River.

As for Skyline, NMS is right. Just absolutely horrible. I've lived here for almost 2 years now and I've only had it once. I guess you could try it, but like NMS said, it's basically liquid.

Montgomery Inn is nice. Fountain Square (about 1-2 blocks from the stadiums) has several restaurants, as does Newport on the Levee. Newport is on the other side of the river but there are several bridges that you can walk over to get there.

What type of food were you looking to eat?

    Anything that is good.

I heard Blue Ash chili is good.Even been on Drive Inn's,Diners and Dives show. Someone said Montgemery Inn is overpriced but to each his own. Is Walt's or Big Arts good for BBQ? Also a Mexican or Italian place.

I was just there for a Ravens/Bengals game.

Montgomery Inn is fantastic. Don't miss it.

LaRosa's Pizza is also a great local pizza chain. Their sauce is on the sweet side, so know that going into it.

I wouldn't go near Skyline Chili, but that's just me!

Before LaRosa's, I'd try Dewey's Pizza. There's one right across the river in Newport on the Levee.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I am seeing the Nat's. Should I wear an O's hat or get a Nat's hat?

I'd go with Ravens gear - they'll hate you. Who are the O's again?

I liked the Hofbrauhaus Newport just over the bridge - it does compare favorably to the real thing in Munchen (I mean nothing really does compare but ya know). If you stay in Newport, you can take a cheap shuttle bus to the GAP. The GAP does not compare to OPACY for me. It's ok but leaves no memorable imprint other than the view of the Ohio from the upper deck, as PO stated. I've tried the Skyline Chile 3 or 4 times in restaurants and isn't on my top ten but was a decent meal - it has a cinnamon taste and best served all the way with pasta. My wife is from the area and has packets she makes up at home and doctors it up to taste better.

I need to try the MI also next time there.

    Have fun and represent....

I strongly disagree with the negative comments on Skyline Chili. Perhaps you have to be a slob like me to appreciate it, but I absolutely love it. I get the spaghetti with chili, cheese and onions. I can't eat enough of that. And the best ice cream anywhere is Graeter's. Last time I was at the ballpark, there's a Graeter's downtown not far away. Trust me, it is worth the trip to Cincinnati to eat that sweet treat.

After the game, you can walk across the bridge over the Ohio River and eat at the TGI Friday's on the Kentucky side, facing the stadium and overlooking the river.
