    The one I took (with the cold war still going on) mostly blamed Russia's past history of being occupied. Of course it didn't help that the US had folks fighting against the Bolsheviks during the civil war.

    I've read some books that touched on this. FDR originally wanted Berlin in the US zone after the war but his health deteriorated rapidly before Yalta and he never brought it up at that meeting. Stalin ended up getting pretty much everything he wanted at Yalta. I don't think it would have stopped the Cold War but it could have affected Germany being divided.

    FDR believed that Stalin would keep his promises and treaty engagements, much like we want to with the Orioles ownership and management. So, this really should be moved to the Orioles Talk forum
