    New England Patriots, NFL Champions

    c
That's right. Roger Goodell and his people had a long talk with Mark Emmert, the president of the NCAA. Because of the fact that the Patriots got almost all of their losses out of the way early, only had 4 losses overall compared to the Giants' 7 losses, and didn't lose a lot of style points because of their narrow loss in the Super Bowl, the Sagarin Ratings Poll has declared the men from Massachusetts to be the champions of the NFL, by popular demand. The Giants were so far behind the Patriots in the polls that they would have needed to win the Super Bowl by at least 3 touchdowns to even have a chance at a split championship.

The Patriots have planned a celebration parade on Friday afternoon for their championship, beginning at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, and ending in downtown Boston.

Oh please. No legitimate sports organization, or the fans of such a league, would ever allow a championship to be decided in such an embarrassing fashion!

And don't forget that they also set aside the fact that the Giants also beat the Patriots, in New England, during the regular season. Because, you know, those games don't really mean anything....unless of course the voters say they do.

I figured that I would just post this in here instead of creating yet another damn playoff thread

It's less for the idea itself (the post is generally about a four-team, all conference-champion playoff) then about a later suggestion of an eight-team playoff with games played at the conference champion's home stadium.

Boise St. (No. 7 in final regular-season BcS rankings) at LSU (No. 1, SEC champs)
Arkansas (No. 6) at Oklahoma State (No. 3, Big 12 champs)
Stanford (No. 4) at Oregon (No. 5, Pac-12 champs)
Alabama (No. 2) at Wisconsin (No. 10, Big Ten champs)

I'm still in favor of something along the lines of sixteen teams which makes it much fairer for all teams in the current Division I-A. However, doesn't that look so much better than what we get in the four bowls every year? Plus, you still have three additional games with this group of teams after this set!
