MD vs. Boston College & Indiana

So for me, the BC @ MD game is only available online. But at the same time, MASN is rebroadcasting the 2002 NCAA Finals.

After falling behind 10-4 early, MD went on a 25-2 run. Stoglin has 14 and Dixon has 11. It's 29-14 over BC and 25-16 over the Hoosiers.

Maryland was playing sloppy as hell it that game. I'd rather watch the Uconn/MD game. Now that was a fun game to watch.

I couldn't find the game at first so I stopped looking.

I then randomly found out right before halftime. Stoglin with 19 so far.

Also, that final was one of the most enjoyable sports moments I've ever had. Such an amazing season.

    That was an awesome game.

There was somewhere online a few years back where you could watch all the games from that run and I went and watched them in one day (at least the UNCONN, Kentucky and Indiana game).

I can still remember where I was during each game

    A couple observations:

Watching both games, Stoglin is the most skilled offensive player on the court and it's not close. EDIT: But BC is awful, so whatever.

Between Baxter, Wilcox, Randle, Holden, and the way Mouton plays, the 2002 Terps were huge!

How on Earth did the Wizards become convinced to draft Jeffries? (To be fair, I think Boozer is the only player drafted behind him who's been better in the NBA.)

My most satisfactory sports-fan win ever, I think. Though I enjoyed (more purely) the wins over UConn and Kansas.

Me too. I remember the lineup so easily, Siena, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Uconn, Kansas, Indiana. Some real powerhouses today and of all time.

I think I have to agree. The Orioles are probably my favorite sports team ever but they haven't given me a win like Maryland did that year. I remember how happy I was when they won... and I can definitely say no sports moment from any team has matched that for me.

IIRC, Up until Indiana we played the top possible seed at our ranking each round. In other words, after the first round we didn't play any upset teams.

I was 9 in 1981, and that was my first, real "independent" year as a fan. I was an O's fan because of my father, and a Dolphins fan for reasons having to do with being 9, and a Celtics fan because they were the first team I ever watched on TV. Over the next few years, I got the O's pennant run in '82 and WS in '83, the Celtics' Bird-fueled run against the Lakers, a Super Bowl loss in '82, and the beginning of Marino's career (and a Super Bowl loss) in '84. I honestly thought my teams would be in championships every year. Did I learn.

At least you learned relatively young.

I was born in 82... The O's won in 83, my Raiders won in 84. Clearly I had no recollection of that. My teams whiffed the rest of my life until those Terps. The Raiders were close a few times but lost in the SB and in the championship game against NE (Tuck rule ). And of course I've only seen the O's in the playoffs in 96 and 97. I vaguely remember some of the 89 year but I was pretty young at that point.

Well, I guess for me at least I was used to dealing with disappointment pretty early though.

You make a good point. I'll take that under consideration.
