The Cincinnati Bengals have hired former Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson as an assistant coach for their special teams and secondary, according to the team's official website.

Well, he's a QB coach, so it's odd that he is taking this position. It might work out, though, and the Bengals are already a good team.

I am happy with Caldwell. I think he and Hue are pretty interchangeable at this point based on the ups and downs of their careers thus far.

I liked the idea of Jackson coming here, but I really don't think the Ravens hurt themselves by hiring Caldwell.

With as loose of a cannon as Mike Brown is, if the Bengals started slow, it wouldn't surprise me to see Marvin Lewis get fired next year. Hue Jackson would be a logical choice as interim coach. No such opportunity exists here.

According to Shefter, Jackson was scheduled to interview with the Giants for their QB coach position before accepting a spot on the Bengals coaching staff.
