Of course they want the Orioles to pay his salary. It is the orioles who expect texas to pay his salary while he plays for the orioles. which is ridiculous. Did you read my post?

I hear a rumor that they may not trade him anymore; probably what I would do if I was them. Hope you can build up his value in the cooler months.

This. For better or worse, the spot is taken and Gregg is too fat (physically and financially) to move to make room for Koji.

Better to eat Gregg's salary than to run him out on the mound every other day wondering how he would do?

If you did this, you in essence be paying Koji 10 million dollars to be a 1 inning relief guy every few days, when the weather is below 60. Not gonna happen.

Better than paying Gregg $6M to cough up leads every other day.

Would a three team trade work?

*Orioles trade RP Kevin Gregg (and $4.3M of his $5.8M salary), RP Wynn Pelzer, OF Roderick Bernadina and LHP Ashur Tolliver
*Orioles receive RP Koji Uehara and RHP Scott Feldman (and $6.1M of the $11.1M owed to them from the Rangers)

*Rangers trade RP Koji Uehara and RHP Scott Feldman (and $6.1 of the $11.1M remaining on their salaries)
*Rangers recieve RP Wynn Pelzer, OF Roger Bernadina, LHP Ashur Tolliver and SS Hector Gomez

    *Rockies trade SS Hector Gomez
*Rockies receive RP Kevin Gregg and $4.3M from Orioles

-When all is said and done, Orioles payroll jumps $9.3M with the acquisition of Feldman and Koji (and the money with Gregg) and puts payroll in the $87M range (or just about 'flat line'. ) Orioles get rid of a $5.8M middle-reliever, while obtaining a very good back end reliever and a pitcher who should be in the rotation. This would also allow for a rotation of Hunter, Hammel, Chen, Feldman and Wada (which would give Britton, Matusz, Arrieta and Tillman time to work on some things in AAA). The Orioles don't give up any 'core' minor leaguers.

-Rangers SAVE $5M and receive 4 players for a guy they don't really want on their team anyway (Koji) and a guy who is owed $7.1M to be their long-reliever (Feldman)...

-Rockies seem to be in a 'go-for-it-now' stage and add a guy who has been a closer in the past for a C prospect (who is about the 3rd/4th SS in their MiL system... and stuck behind some SS in Colorado ) , while only owing him $1.5M.

    Does everybody win?

Orioles add a guy who they hope can eat innings and keep walks and HR's down and a reliever who thrived here without giving up anything of real value. The Rangers add 4 pieces, but most importantly save themselves $5M. The Rockies get to take a chance on a guy who has been a closer for $1.5M and a player who is way down the organizational depth chart.

    Thoughts...

***NOTE: Had the wrong Bernadina brother in there...

    The Win Win Win is:

Rangers save money, add little in talent
Orioles get likely stater, solid reliever
Rockies get closer type reliever, give up nothing much

I think it works as long as the Rangers value the savings more than the talent being returned.

No way the O's would increase their payroll by $9 for Koji and Feldman.

It's technically not $9.3M for Koji and Feldman. It would be $5M for those two. The other $4.3 is to get rid of Gregg. But I understand the point. It is $9.3M for Koji, Feldman and to get rid of Gregg,,,

I had the wrong Bernadina... I meant Roderick.

I am just throwing out an idea out of the blue, do the Orioles really make sense for a Koji trade???
