Finish .500 in the ACC... Or even 9-7 (which would require them to run the table). I think it's great they are even close to .500. About 4 months ago the predictions were a dead-last place finish.
IMO, the Terps become a nice bubble team IF:
(1) they finish .500 in ACC play and win 2 ACC tourney games, or
(2) they finish .500 and beat Carolina and win 1 ACC tourney game, or
(3) they finish 9-7 and win 1 ACC tourney game.
Norte Dame finishing in the top 25 wouldn't hurt, either.
Go Terps!
Too much needs to happen for the Terps to make the tournament. The most hopeful scenario is a win on Saturday, a win against Virginia at home, and a very deep, strong run in the ACC tourney. I don't think this team can beat the Tar Heels. If they lose to Virginia also, they have to win the ACC tourney to get in.
Even if one of your scenarios played out, I don't know if the Terps RPI moves up enough to get them on the bubble. I believe they are around 90 right now. That's a lot of moving up to do.
I don't disagree... BUT. There still is a small, yet dim, glimmer of hope.
Disregard this thread. ;-)
Yea, the GT loss was a crippler. Any hope they may have had is gone. Let's finish the season strong by not getting embarrassed at UNC and beating UVA at home and then winning a game or two in the ACC tourney.
