What covers of a song are better than the original?

While on another post I started thinking about songs that when covered by another artist were way better than the original.

The songs that got me thinking was Sinead O'Connors "Nothing Compares to You".

What other songs standout for you?

First one is Cash covering "Hurt". I might have more later but I wanted to get that one in first.

I strongly disagree that Whitney's version is "way better".

That would be like saying one version of "All around the watchtower" was way better then the other.

Dolly Parton's version sounds like someone strangling cats.

I like Warren Zevon but the Pixies just killed it on this one.

I think the arrangement is what puts the second version over the top.

I just heard this one on a Super Bowl commercial but I thought it was a pretty good cover, too.

    Here's a real one:

Really like the harmonies in this version. This is one of the few times where I don't prefer the Dylan original.

Jerry Jeff Walker's cover of Bob Dylan's One Too Many Mornings

I think the slower pace is more appropiate
