I got it. I heard that his arm felt good at the beginning of spring. How things change in a hurry. He is a good kid and will do big things with his life, baseball or not.

On a side note, I just glanced at the text, but I've never heard of making a rotator cuff smaller.

What a shame that it took so long to get around to doing this.

I could have sworn I saw this posted somewhere last week. It also said that the injury could have been from either his rookie year or before he signed. Either way I feel bad for him.

It was a tough week for Matt. This is the first that it was announced what the process would be. Many assumed that he would be surgically altered.

I'm rooting for him to rebound. Seems like a good kid.

And I hope he shows the O's more loyalty than Adam Loewen did for sticking with him through all the injuries.

Actually, I would think he would be relieved. He has known for awhile that he just isn't right. At least he has hope now, as do we, that this will fix him.

He's only 20 years old, so he has time to recover and still have a career. Whether or not it will be as a pitcher might be in question. But, he's a big kid and my understanding is that he was also an outstanding power hitter in high school. And unlike Adam Loewen when he made the switch because of an injury, I think Hobgood will be under the Orioles control for another 4 years.....until 2016.

He is 21 and will be 22 before the end of the season.

Chris Tillman went 2-5 with the Orioles at 21.

I heard that Hobgood's swing makes Rick Elders' look close and compact. Hitting doesn't sound like an option.

Chris Tillman has never had serious arm problems or major arm surgery as far as I'm aware. What is your point?
