Nice. Really stepped up and raised his stock this season. Heard he was one of the best unsigned players left heading into the spring signing session. We got 2 of them with Cassell and Mitchell.

If this is what Turgeon and Co. can do, without being on these kids (as coaches at Maryland) for years, I'm SCARED to see what kind of recruiting classes that we're going to have in the future.

Likely wraps up a pretty solid 2012 class. A bit big for my tastes, but clearly the team needed reinforcements. So we're looking at:

    Cleare - PF, C
    Layman - SF
    Mitchell - PF
    Dodd - PF, C (redshirt?)
    Cassell - SG
    Allen - SG

Pretty good balance. I'd like to see 1 guy there be more a distributor-type point guard, but that's not in the cards for now. Let's hope some of these guys can make a big impact next year.

I am so excited for next year. I know it's tricky to rely on freshmen in your rotation, but you have to figure that at least 1-2 of these players are going to have a real positive impact.

Outside of Dodd, I think they all have a shot at making the rotation. It will be interesting to see if Pe returns, and if he does if it's as the starting PG. Plain and simple, he just wasn't that good last year and I've heard rumblings that he could be pushed out the door. If he does return I would have to think that Cassell could push him as the starting PG.

Beyond that I think you can lock Faust, Stoglin, Padge, Len(assuming he returns) into the rotation. I think any of the freshmen could steal the minutes that Parker, Pankey, and walk ons got last year. As of today my rotation for next year would look lke this

    Cassell
    Stoglin
    Faust
    Padge
    Len
    Pe
    Cleare
    Layman

Again, I think they'll be some battles. Just because I listed the top 8 above I still think Parker, Mitchell, and Allen will be in the mix for minutes.

Has anyone read a time table on Howards return?

Having Cassell come on board is great - tho, it would be nice to have Howard primarily running the point...

It should be an incredibly deep team, for next year and for the next few. Still lacking the true blue-chippers, but that can be overcome.

I just hope we can be on the right side of the bubble for next year's tourney. Tired of the Terps not being involved.

I've never been a huge Howard fan, but I think it's tough to cast any stones at him for last year. Right when he was getting his legs under him again he got hurt. I think in a best-case he's a ballhandler to bring off the bench. He's also really tough, which is always nice to have.

Not so fast. Apparently Dad checked around and was given the impression that Jr. will be recruited over. If that's his worry than he better not be looking at top programs because they are trying to recruit over kids constantly. Suprising since Dad has an insane amount of swag and believed he could beat anybody that he'd be worried about challengers for his sons playing time.

Sounds like his Dad is trying to make a decision for him.

It's pretty clear that Cassell Jr. wants to go to Maryland. If he doesn't end up here, it clearly won't be of his own doing.

Not sure what you mean by this. This "de-commitment", if you even want to call it that, is 100% on the player, not the staff. Our staff was under the impression from both the player and his coach that Cassell Jr. had committed.
