Who goes off the 40-man when Johnson and Paulino are added?

It appears that Ronny Paulino will make the team as the backup catcher and Nick Johnson will make the team as a DH/1B, so who goes off teh 40-man to make room?

I think Brad Bergesen due to his salary and Josh Bell could be the top two candidates and Jai Miller and Simon (since they are both out of options) are additional options.

If I'm the Orioles, I'd waive Miller and put Brian Roberts on the 6-day DL. I'd option Brian Matusz until I needed him to start (assuming he's the 5th starter) and keep Simon on the roster. When Matusz' spot comes up, I'd waive Simon since it will be easier to get him through waivers once other team's rosters are set.

Makes no sense for BRob to not be on the 60 man....No way he is back before June..if ever.

I think Bell is going to be DFA'ed.

I am not a huge fan of Miller but I like his upside enough to not want to lose him because they didn't put BRob on the 60 day.

Why not just DFA Miller and Bell. The rotation looks to me to be Arrieta, Hammel, Matusz, Hunter, Chen. Simon and or Wada can be DL'd for the time being if necessary.

I don't think it's accurate to say that Jai Miller is just a possibility to come off the 40-man. I think he has to come off the 40-man if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster. He's out of options, so the Orioles will need to DFA him. If he clears waivers, he'll be outrighted to the minors and removed from the 40-man.

So Miller is required to be one of the guys removed from the roster. For the other one, I'll echo everyone else and say Bell.

Who comes back to the 40 man after two weeks when Johnson is on the DL?

Miller has to be gonzo. He hasn't done himself any favors in the past couple of weeks.

With the schedule this year you can't really do that. We will need the 5th starter on the 10th and an optioned player can't be recalled until the 14th. Maybe if there is weather it could work out but I don't think it would be smart to risk it.

I was going to start a thread on this...but I am still waiting for those 3-5 moves to happen. Also does anyone else think if they option Matusz they should just give a start to Patton. Maybe not stretched out enough.

Not if Simon comes up still hurting from his groin.

    I'd say Miller and Bell.

DD mentioned something about a trade coming soon but its going to be nothing of significance.....I am still trying to figure out how we gave Betemit 2 years plus an option...
