Can Tyrion Lannister get any better? His character is easily the best character in the whole show and the guy you have to root for the most. Of course Peter Dinklage, the only American in the main cast, is amazing.

I loved the way he takes care of things especially how he treat Joffrey like the punk that he is.

I tend to agree but having read the books it's hard to overlook the fact that Tyrion is a Lannister. I've been quite impressed by his portrayal in the series though, by far the best acted character.

Tyrion is great. What I love about this show is how the Lannisters are such awful people, but we LOVE Tyrion. The Targaryens are (or were) horrible people but we LOVE Daenerys. We LOVE the Starks too! They all want the same thing, well not exactly the Starks don't want the Iron Throne but you get what I mean. It makes for such conflicting feelings but I love it.

I have not read the books. I'm basically reading each book after the season is done with, that's my plan. Can't get over how much great stuff is going on. White Walkers coming from the North, Dragons from the East as well as the return of magic all while a great Civil War is underway with the participants of that Civil War not having much of a clue as to how much more serious things are outside of their bubble.

Not long before the shadow monster killed Renly did he say, "I would have better luck debating the wind." What a poorly timed comparison to Stannis.

It's fun to watch Brienne fight, her oath to Catelyn made sense to me. The first time they met and Brienne said, "I'm no lady," I thought the smile Lady Stark gave reflected a nostalgia for Arya. Brienne is looking for someone to protect and serve, and Renly wasn't really the kind of character you would die for, Cat Stark is.

Margaery is easy on the eyes, but I don't know her character other than her ability to balance being discrete/blunt. I wonder if I should worry about her ambitions. Who could be her possible King, though?

"Schemes and plots are the same thing." The Tyrion/Cersei scenes continue to be great. Very revealing of their characters without feeling ham-handed.

Stannis- "Most of those lords should consider themselves lucky I dont hang them for treason." I saw this as a rather clever phrase. Stannis doesn't have full trust of these lords who sided with Renly in the first place, but he is also threatening Davos with the implication that had Davos been a common lord his back talk and truth-telling would be punished as treason.

As insecure and perceptive as Tyrion is, how could he not realize 'demon monkey' was a reference to him?

I noticed that when Tywin said "if those same spies snuck into our encampments" he had a head turn towards Arya as she brought him food. Amusing. Arya had a good stand and recovery against Tywin's questioning. Anyone can be killed, indeed.

This whole owing to the Red God thing is ridiculous to me. Everytime you save a mans life he or member of his guild has to take someone else's life to keep things in the balance with the red god? I grab you before you fall off a cliff, away from a fire, or some other death and someone else has to be killed? Its neat Arya will get some measures of revenge, but this premise is flimsy.

Dany tries to get dirt on Daxos by having her handmaidens sleep with random Qarthians? Well okay then. Glad to see a new dragon alive and firing. They have done a good job at giving Qarth a deeply creepy feel, even before the warlock and his house of the undying came about. Have to think we will see that lady in the mask who knows Jorah again.

If Bran has always believed in his visions, why dismiss this one of Winterfell being washed over? It seemed odd that he would have the vision, send off the best remaining men, and then barely probe Osha about what it could mean. He hasn't seemed one to shy away from truth. Also, Osha's acting distracts me.

There was a parallel between Davos and Jorah offering desperate advice to their respective leaders that was begrudgingly accepted. Renly didn't accept his advice.

Ouch! I had skipped commenting in this thread for a couple weeks and after a repeat viewing of the recent episode I had a lot of thoughts churning about.

Arya is one of my favorite characters in the books and the actress portraying her on the show has done a great job!

It's been awhile since I read Clash of Kings, but I think Tyrion's unusual lack of perception about the demon monkey comment is a quick, dirty TV adaptation of trying to convey something from the books, easier to do since you're kinda in his head during the POV chapters. He honestly thought the people of King's Landing saw him as helping them, since he's sorta motivated by getting peoples approval and love. He was honestly surprised to find out they didn't see him in that light.

Also, how money was The Hound jacking up those guys that were going to rape Sansa?

Great episode! There are a lot of characters and I haven't read the books, so I have to admit that I don't always remember who everyone is. That guy Rodrik that Theon killed, who was he again?

I liked the scene where Arya was trying to avoid being recognized by Littlefinger during his meeting with Tywin. I have a feeling that he did recognize her but that he'll use that secret to his advantage somehow.

And I really liked the scene of Arya getting her assassin to kill the knight just as he was about to blow her cover to Tywin. I was cracking up when he slammed open the door and immediately keeled over dead.

He was the Master-at-Arms of Winterfell. He trained the soldiers, children, etc. He was very loyal to the Starks, and he was very important to them.

The scene with the Hound was definitely the best of the bunch.

Paul, if they had followed the book a little bit more we would have gotten to see a much more entertaining death for Lorch. (the guy killed at Tywin's doorway)
