Original Star Wars Trilogy
No, not including those three piles of crap that were released in the last 15 years, I'm talking eps. 4 5 and 6. These are my 3 favorites films of all time. I can recite pretty much every line and they were all on Spike this weekend.
Good times. Good times.

Empire is as close to perfect film as it gets, imo!
Of course Georgie boy found a way to mess it up...the 'new' Emperor holonet image and dialog.

30 years later, and these are still among my favorite movies ever.

My whole thing about that is "why show Han loosening his holster?". A close up at that. Lucas giving everyone these lines about original intent is a bunch of crap. You had Han firing first, but somewhere down the line you decided that Han needed to be boring and not a shade of grey at all.

Must read for any Star Wars fan. I'll be trying it out once our new theater system is installed this upcoming weekend!

One thing that bums me out is I have no recollection of my reaction when I first heard Darth Vader was Luke's father. I think I was just so little that it didn't resonate with me as being that big a deal but as far back as I can remember, it's always been common knowledge to me. I think someone watching Star Wars for the first time would have to be utterly stupified when they learn this.

BTW, if you've never watched the Plinkett reviews of the first 3 episodes on Red Letter Media, you're doing yourself a disservice.

I am going to do this over the summer.
I actually hold a special place in my heart for Episode I because it was the first time I had watched a Star Wars movie in the theater without knowing what happened. I grew up watching the movies so I don't really remember a particular viewing where I absorbed everything for the first time. I kind of always knew Vader was Luke's father without ever really realizing it was a big twist. I had seen the old trilogy in the theater, but it was probably the twentieth time I had seen them. So Episode I was the first real movie going experience I had ever had with a SW film. I was 18 and I knew it was bad in many aspects, but I was just so excited to see a new SW film in the theater that I didn't really care.
Anyway, the guy makes a good point. Episode I is irrelevant and should be viewed after the 5 core movies are viewed...probably a while later, like it was a totally separate movie. It does have it's merits...I like Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor in just about anything, I loved the pod race, and the final battles were pretty cool too. Add to that it's a SW movie. There is just something about a SW movie that I can't bring myself to hate no matter how much it sucks.

It does work very well. The fan edit of Episode I is pretty alright, too.
