Everyone had the Red Sox pegged to win the World Series last year just because of the massive amount of talent they acquired in the offseason. Didn't even make the playoffs.

Likewise, I don't think a lot of people had much hope for the Diamondbacks; they lacked stars and talent, but wound up getting pretty miraculous seasons from guys like Kennedy, Roberts, Montero and Hudson. They went from average hitting to above average hitting, and terrible pitching to average pitching.

It's really anyone's game; the Orioles could put together a very similar improvement this year.

BTW, I appreciate the purpose of this thread, but it's not really telling us what we don't know; the AL (especially the East) is really good and we stink.

IMHO- The six best teams are in no particular order: Angels, Rangers, Tigers, Rays, Yankees, & White Sox. I think the Red Sox take a step back this year. Question mark at short, Booby Valentine, and their closer is hurt. White Sox are my "wild card" pick. Guillen regime is over, they are my surprise team to make the playoffs.

As I said, the WS had 2 bad months last year. All other months they were .500 or above.

I don't think they will make the playoffs but I don't think they will be as bad as people are making them out to be.
