He will be used in the bullpen. He has closing experience you know.

Johnson or Paulino may now be added to the 40 man roster.

Cool. We'll see him in a rematch of the 1970 World Series in October.

I wonder if this pushes Chapman back into the rotation. I heard the Reds preferred him there, but with the injury of Madson he had to moved back to the bullpen.

It might. Shawn Marshall is the current closer.

He was claimed so someone wanted him. A lot of teams had to pass for him to get to the Reds.

Does this mean the Orioles are just letting him go or are the teams going to work out a deal?

No surprise that an AL team would pass on him.

May be ok in the NL...Could have a good year or be DFA'ed by June.

I guess the Orioles needed to save some cash.

I guess this means they still somewhat value Josh Bell. At least until they need another roster spot.

Thanks. I was hoping they would get something for him, if nothing more than a low level minor-leaguer.

Or they had to drop both Simon and Bell and thought Simon had a better chance to sneak through waivers if they sent him through before the end of spring training.

Not really analagous. They needed Simon off the 25 man roster and Bell can be on the expanded roster. I suspect Bell will likelly be gone soon enough.
