Lindstrom reminds me of Dennis Sarfate.

Good stuff, good heater, poor command.

In Colorado, a point I'm sure you would argue if your opinion differed.

Also, the league difference is less pronounced with relievers because the opposing pitcher rarely has an at-bat off them. Certainly the average pinch-hitter in the NL is worse than the average AL DH, but it is still something to keep in mind.

For 1 whole season...which I find funny that YOU left out.

Florida, were he was for most of his career, is a good pitchers park.

In the AL East, I would basically expect similar production from either.

They both could be very good, both could be awful or one could be good or one awful...the likelihood is they are both annoying relievers who drive us crazy, make too much money and end up league average or so.
I have a question with this.. except for the obvious (~11% of your offense is a pitcher hitting) is there really a major difference overall that would make his performance in the NL misleading?

Well, the AL is clearly the superior league and has been for a while...Plus, pithcing in the AL East makes an even larger difference.

It may not make much of a difference to the stud pitchers...but to the average type guys..it does.

I understand what you're saying, but I think that it may be a little higher than the 11 % (1 out of 9) that a pitcher hitting for himself represents. For example, I believe that sometimes you can pitch around a batter or 2 to get to the pitcher in the N.L., which isn't an option in the A.L. Also, I think that there is some psychological aspect that would give a starting pitcher in the National League an edge in just knowing that you have that "soft spot" each time through the lineup every game, which again, is not there with American League starting pitchers. Not a big deal, just mentioning that there are probably additional factors besides the obvious.

But, he has had success in the past, so hopefully it will work for him for the next 3-4 months.
Gregg does NOT have good stuff. He has to be just about perfect to get hitters out. This is why he walks so many batters. If Lindstrom had Gregg's command, then he would be much better. He can get away with more mistakes. I think he has better stuff. Is he a better pitcher...that is a different question.

Either way, it was one game.

Lindstrom has really acquitted himself well since this thread was started.

He finally gave up a couple of earned runs yesterday, skyrocketing his ERA up to 1.29.

He may have been pitching hurt, though.
