    .
I hope so. Another thing about that '89 season was that the Yankees and the Orioles essentially switched roles. From 1983-1988, the Yankees had 6 straight winning seasons, and were perennial contenders. They tanked and finished well below .500 for that same 1989 season in which the Orioles had a Renaissance of their winning ways.

Now they are 0-3, we're 3-0, and we have a big chance to really kick them in the nuts early in the season.

The cartoon bird and the pull-over jerseys were dumped after the 107-loss 1988 season. The "real" bird and traditional button-downs were brought in for 1989--the Why Not? season.

The myth that losing the ugly uniforms was the catalyst for the present losing streak is one of the worst that persists among the fan base, simply because it is a complete falsehood. After winning the 1983 series, the Orioles fell apart. They had as many losing seasons in the last five seasons under the old uniforms, three, as in the first nine under the new ones.

So, no, it is not a coincidence. Because it is not true.

If Brian Matusz goes out and steps on a nail tomorrow, I'm coming for you Tony...

Anybody under the age of 30 may not know what I'm talking about.

Yeah, but it's not the season ending series for the division title.

Really? It's a stupid theory because it's inaccurate? That's why?

Of course...I don't think anybody seriously believes the change in uniforms had any real effect, but still.

I've learned never to underestimate what people actually are willing to believe.

If I remember correctly, the 1989 team started 2-1 and 15-19 before they really caught fire... My favorite Orioles team even though they lost to the Blue Jays at the end.

And as usual, with the personality and humor of a wet blanket, you take a silly thread and try to do analysis. Do you go to children's hospitals on Christmas Eve and tell them that Santa Claus doesn't exist? For some strange reason, reasons that I could never understand, you feel you are smarter than everyone else. I honestly don't get it.

This little thread had more to do with the Nick Johnson stache and a little fun optimism than anything else. Maybe you oaught to stay out of the silly threads because you clearly lack the understanding to comprehend when people are messing around and when someone is being serious. Maybe, just maybe you are not nearly as clever as you think you are?

The team needs mustaches like Gregg Olson! Now there was a mustache you could be proud of!

Real coincidence? The last time the Red Sox and Yankees started 0-3 was 1966. I don't think I need to say what happened that year
