    The Yanks are coming!!!!

Not a bad blog. Also has nice things to say about Baltimore.

I highly recommend this trip -- if not now, certainly in the future. Baltimore is a good city and a very good sports town.

You do not need to fear wearing your Yankee gear to Camden Yards. Although Baltimore is an old, tough, gritty Northeastern city, home to two tough, gritty, much-honored TV crime dramas (Homicide: Life On the Street and The Wire), their fans will not fight you or provoke you into a fight. O's fans are generally classy. And they know the game, and they don't want to ruin their experience by mixing it up with outsiders.

They will, however, boo you and your fellow Yankee Fans when you chant, "Let's Go Yankees!" They don't like it when you (and Red Sox fans, and, with Interleague play coming in, fans of the Mets, Phillies and Nats) take over their ballpark, but they know fighting isn't the answer. This is something some Red Sox fans have yet to learn.

Don't worry about Oriole fans talking trash to you if they manage to beat you. A few might, but most won't. This isn't Boston. It isn't even Toronto, where the Blue Jays fans take a lot more liberties than their team has earned (since 1993, anyway).

If you want to get a drink before or after the game, there are plenty of choices near the ballpark, including Slider's, Pickles, the Wharf Rat, and the Goddess. (I realize that the last one's name makes it sound like a strip club, or maybe a lesbian bar, but it's neither.)

He then goes on to bash the "oh" during the national anthem and other traditions, and Ripken. Just another yankee bandwagon a-hole.

It's not an uncommon opinion outside of Baltimore.

I was more irked at his insistence that Baltimore is a Northeast town. Learn geography, dude. Even if you want to debate the whole "it's the South, it's below the Mason-Dixon" thing, which is fine, it's still not northeastern.

Yea its more Mid Atlantic, hey at least he said that we never fight and talk trash. Which for the most part I don't think I have ever seen fans do that.

I'm generally OK with Yankee fans. They're not as insufferable as Red Sox fans. I've been treated with courtesy in New York wearing Oriole gear to games, so I try to extend them the same.

I thought the air smelled funnier than usual when I walked outside.

Also he mentions Greyhound. Bolt Bus is cheaper and stops at Penn Station. You could then take the Circulator bus down to the stadium for free. Bolt has a much better vibe then Greyhound. Also might get some hot college chicks on the bus, Perhaps we should not mention this cheap way,

You are wrong and he is right. There is nothing Southern about Baltimore; never was. It does not have the characteristics of a Southern city. Mongomery Alabama and Richmond Virginia are southern, Baltimore has more in common with Philly than any southern city.

The Mason/Dixon line was drawn to settle a boundry dispue between Maryland and Pennsylvania, not to designate where the south begins.

I went last year (forget which game) and the Yanks hit back-to-back-to-back home runs and I left. I was about to lose my cool with every single person around me high fiving as I sat in my chair.

Obviously this isn't a completely accurate write up (Fells Point is much closer to a Village scene than Federal Hill IMO) but for an outsider he does a pretty good job.

Also, re the "northeast" or not, Baltimore is a northeastern city in everything but it's actual location (the people, attitude, lifestlyes, etc all fit in much more with norhteastern cities IMO) and it's also worth noting that Baltimore is part of the megalopolis (sp?) that covers DC-Boston.

The Yankees are coming and they are 0-3 and probably pissed off and ready to take it out on the O's. Yikes.

You can walk from the Greyhound to the ballpark, and the two are comparable in price now. I use all three regularly, and Greyhound is the best price/quality ratio.
