I think a case could be made that he won't make it out of the 1st inning, to be honest. But I think he's capable of going 6 if his location is good and he's not leaving meatball fastballs over the middle of the plate to the NY right-handers.

Prediction: Chen will throw spheres in the direction of a 17-inch wide pentagon.

A lefty pitcher few have heard of(relatively speaking)making his MLB debut....damn near a no hitter bank on it.

Oh wait....he's pitching FOR us....my mistake. In that case....

He'll be around the strike zone so he's going to give up some hits. His pitch count will be up because the MFY will foul a lot of pitches off. Someone is going yard on him. I predict Cano.

Good point. Bruce Hurst got big money from the Padres after doing that to the O's when he was in Boston, and tanked before the ink on his contract was dry. He should be sending Christmas cards to the Warehouse.

From what I saw of him in ST, I can't see him doing much better than Matusz. In fact, I'd bank on him giving up a dinger or two, probably to Teix.

There's no film on Chen yet, so I think he's going to have a great game. We won't know what we truly have in him until later in the season.

The thing is, if he can't locate the plate for some reason, the film is Brian Matusz from last night..

Yes, but the same statement could be said for virtually every pitcher.

    6 2/3 innings pitched
    4 runs (3 earned)
    5 K's
    3 BB's

Chen gets the W, Johnson gets the save...O's win 7-5
