Well it sure seems like KLaw was wrong about Chen's velocity issues being injury related last year. He doesn't look like someone that is going to average 92 or so like he did a few years ago. Come summertime he is going to have to do something to get some ground ball outs.

That's a good 3-1 pitch. Fastball right on the outside corner. Cano really shouldn't have swung at it.

He needs to get the ball down a bit more and stop hanging his breaking pitches and he could probably be pretty darn good.

Well...I saw his first start when I was down there. He wasn't very good when he was on MASN later in the spring, though, which is probably the one you saw. It didn't look like he was mixing up his pitches as much that day, though. It appeared to me he was focused on fastball command (and gave up some Jennings bombs because of it).
