This is the reason I love Thorne. The man is just weird.

Thorne and Palmer make a great team, IMO. They play well off each other, stick to the flow of the game, have great insights (I loved when Thorne insisted that Reynolds should have made that play last night). Unfortunately, the team itself seems absolutely, 100%, positively conditioned to make sure they don't beat the Yankees. They have already agreed to lose 3 out of every 4 games, at least. You can see it. The script. Same script, over and over. Play scrappy ball, keep it close, then finally... hand it over and slump back to the locker room. I turned the game off. Now, I will listen and watch it unfold here, on the glorious OH.

I think the next strategy for determining balls and strikes is going to be: have the umpire stand out there with an iPad (custom-built and heavily ruggedized so it can take a 95 mph baseball without shattering into a million pieces) and go to http://random.org and draw a random number. If it's between 0 and 49, it's a ball. If it's 50 to 100, it's a strike.
