O's touring the Sports Legends Museum today - mandatory
Heard this from Joe Angel on the radio last night. The O's are having a tour of the Sports Legends Museum, and it is mandatory for certain players. Not sure which ones, but presumably the ones who haven't gone there before. It's interesting that Buck would make this a priority on an off day. He obviously thinks it's important for the team's players to have some appreciation for the history of the team.

Roch did post this last night in one of his blogs
"The Orioles are off Thursday, but manager Buck Showalter has arranged a field trip of sorts for at least nine of his players.
Showalter has made arrangements for them to tour the Sports Legends Museum at 3 p.m., feeling that it's important for the younger and newer players to learn about the state's sports history - and especially anything and everything involving the Orioles.
The list could grow to 15 players, with some of them volunteering to come along.
Among the names I've heard as possibilities are Ryan Flaherty, Tommy Hunter, Wei-Yin Chen, Pedro Strop, Troy Patton, Jake Arrieta, Chris Davis, Brian Matusz and Kevin Gregg"

"Mr. Gregg, welcome to Sports Legends... can I see your ticket? it's the only way you're getting in here"

I like these little things that Buck does. I really do. Especially the highlight reel of the team from the last half of 2010 before the 2011 season started.
I don't know how this will make them better players but I do like that he is trying to get them to buy into the history of the team and the city.
