Rendon has ankle fracture (O's related)

Looks like Rendon fractured his ankle running the bases last week. Dude reminds me of Jeffery Hammond - a ton of potential but constantly injured.

I know some OHers wanted the O's to draft Rendon over Bundy with the #4 pick. Can you imagine the total anarchy on this board if that had happened??? Would have made the Hobgood pick seem like a harmless misunderstanding.

Who knows? Maybe the worm has turned starting with the Bundy selection.

This kid must have the most fragile ankles in the history of the game. All 3 of the big injuries for him have been his ankles now. He was still a defensible pick at #4 (although I think Bundy is better), and I'm hoping he comes back ok in a couple months, but similar injury I was out 12 weeks before I could even START to resume activities.

In fairness I probably had more ligament damage, so I guess the deciding factor will be how much of the surrounding stuff he tore/stretched during the injury. A clean fracture is 10 times better than a bad sprain.

I'd still trade Jones for him tomorrow.

This seems irrationally bullish on Rendon, even though I like him in the abstract.

I'm certainly not the only one. Maybe not even in the minority. If you asked whether the Nationals would have traded Rendon for Jones in spring training, most would have laughed at you.

I certainly don't see him be able to play second base on those ankles.

Yeah I have heard recently that they gave up on moving him to 2B internally, maybe the ankles had something to do with it.

    It's not Spring Training.

Not sure why you'd trade an established All Star caliber centerfielder for a guy who has yet to have a major league at bat and at this rate may never get there?

Yeah - if that happens, it'll be time to whip out the pitchforks and torches and head down to the warehouse.

Yeah I still haven't heard the details but I know how fluke and quick it can happen. I was rounding 3rd and debating if I should take it hard and go for the winning run in a tied game, looked back towards 1B to see where the ball was since my team was yelling that it got by him and in that split second lost track of the bag when I looked back to make my turn I was a half step closer than I thought I was, rolled my ankle off the back side of the bag, fractured it and tore just about everything you can tear.

No need to lie. We all know that it actually happened when Moose's mom chased you out of the food court at the mall. She's big and loving woman, just don't touch her tater tots.

In all seriousness, that sounds horrendous.
