    Edgardo Baez released

According to Steve Melewski, Baez has been released from the Baysox to make room for Zelous Wheeler who is moving down from Norfolk. Was somewhat surprised that Baez wasn't released following Spring Training, so don't think this is a major move.

You're right, it's a little surprising since he only had six at bats. Given that he was a 26 yo backup OF, I also think you're right that it's nothing major.

The only thing surprising was to see Wheeler demoted. You would think if they are using a 40-man roster spot for the guy they would think enough of him to play everyday at 3B in AAA. Guess Josh Bell has someone fooled into thinking he could still end up a player.

I think it was to open up 3B for Matt Antonelli while Adams stays at 2B. Bell hasn't played any 3B that I have seen.

OK, I guess I can see that. Bowie did need a third baseman, but I would have sent Bell there and kept Wheeler in a rotation with Antonelli and Adams.

I was surprised to see Wheeler get bumped down too. Not sure how many years he is still under contract for, but I have to think that this will be Bell's last year in the organizaiton since he's had enough time to show what he's got, or doesn't have.
