LASTEST ESPN mock from Kiper.
He's sticking with Konz in the 1st round and has expanded to round 2 where he has us taking NC State OLB Terrell Manning. He rates about average according to Kipers grades...but above average statistically on production as a guy that shows up on the stat sheet.

Eric Decosta was on the radio this morning talking about getting more picks. If the oppurtunity arises, I see the Ravens trading out of the 1st round like they did 2 years ago and picking up some more picks. If Konz is their guy, and I think he should be, I believe both Mayock and McShay have him falling into the 2nd round. If we can trade back, pick up an additional 2nd or 3rd and still get Konz, thats a win as far as I'm concerned. Staying up until midnight on Thursday night to watch them do that will probably piss me off, but I'll live. I'm sure there are a few guys that they take in the 1st if they are still available, but if your guys slides you have to trade back if you can. I'm not sure who it was, but one of the draft guys had that LB from Boston College falling to the Giants. Everything I've seen about that guy is incredible and I think the Ravens have to take him if he's there at that point.

I have been saying they will trade out all offseason. This draft is too deep in inner lineman for the Ravens to make the mistake of drafting Konz early.

DT Brockers a top 15 rated play could fall to the Steelers. If he does I think there is a good chance the Steelers make the right choice and draft him. At that point Hightower could fall to the Ravens. I still dont see the Ravens drafting a C either way with a 1st rounder or high 2nd. And to get a extra second or high 3rd the Ravens would have to be dropping way back. I just dont see that happening and as I recall it didnt work out well the last time we did it. I think the Kindle/Cody draft could be the worst draft in 10 years. I dont see how giving up your premium picks for lesser picks is a good deal. I know the Patriots do it often....and it just might have cost them the Super Bowl this past season with the mediocre defense.

@evansilva: #ArizonaState LB Vontaze Burfict has not had a single pre-draft visit or workout, or at least not any reported by media. Bad sign for him.

If Konz is there at 29 they will take him. They won;t risk trading out and hoping to get him later. Now, I mean Konz could be there and someone else they like better could be there and they pass( Barron, Hightower, etc) but I just don;t see them trading down if Konz is still on the board.

I guess we will agree to disagree here...C is really not a value pick in the 1st round regardless or slot. The draft is pretty deep at C and Konz durability rating is below average per the report card on ESPN
Blood clot issues...HMMM scary !Diagnosed with a blood clot in each lung and missed the last two games of the 2009 season. Had to take blood thinners and held out of all contact drills during 2010 spring drills. Missed Indiana and Michigan games with a sprained ankle in 2010. Dislocated left ankle against Minnesota and missed the next three games including the Big Ten Championship game in 2011. Returned to start against Oregon in the Rose Bowl but ankle injury prevented him from working out at the Combine.
I just dont see them taking Konz without trading down.

I think this is an overstatement. It depends on the team, the value and what the offer is. And how the board looks, and how the next closest interior lineman hits their board.
The Ravens have shown they will trade back for guys they like even if it looks like they are falling. I'm curious, if the Ravens will try and move up for a lineman or hope a better guy than Konz falls. They got Grubbs because he basically fell way past his value and they moved up for Oher.
There are a lot of ways to go late 1st early 2nd in this draft. I think we'll see the Ravens being a player moving around in some form or another on draft day.

OT Mike Adams actually grades out higher than Konz by Scouts Inc. Using their BPA approach one would assume the Ravens would take him before Konz...Just sayin
Also I don't see the Ravens moving up as they don't have the surplus of picks to do say and they have a lot of wholes to fill by he departed.

Unless there are like 5 or 6 guys the Ravens love at their pick, Konz will be drafted if he is there.

The Ravens have holes all over the place.
I think that there is a major need at G, SS, and LB. I think there is further need at WR, RB, T, DT, C, FS and DE. The Ravens have so many holes that I fail to see how Konz is the pick in the first round by default. If the right trade presents itself and the Ravens can pick up a 3rd and 4th round selection for moving out of the first round.
An additional 3rd and 4th rounder could really help the Ravens fill some of the holes. I think that the Ravens could easily grab a quality C, LB and WR in the 2nd, 3rd an 4th rounds.

I can't see the Ravens taking Konz in the 1st round.
If you look at how Ozzie has acquired Centers in the past, they're either mid to late round picks, undrafted FAs or bargain priced FA. I don't see Ozzie breaking the pattern here; particularly with Birk being retained, I think we wait until the middle rounds to grab a C.
The one caveat is if the Ravens think Konz could play LG this season and maybe next of Birk sticks around.
I think there's a good chance that Ozzie trades out of the 1st round to pick up more picks but if he holds onto the pick, I'd love to see us grab Stephen Hill.
The more I read about Stephen Hill, I'm more intrigued. He's exactly the type of WR this offense needs. Especially given that you have to grossly overpay on the free agent market for a WR that fits that #1 type profile, we're going to have to find a go to guy in the draft.
If we want to get over the hump, be better in the red zone and get the offense to the next level, we need the prototype big, physical WR, that can go get the ball in traffic and out jump double coverage in the end zone. Hill represents our best opportunity to add a #1. Plus, he can ease into the offense without a ton of pressure because of who we already have on the roster.
