.
We're all alone in first place. 1/2 a game ahead of the Yankees and the D-Rays.
The Yanks are losing to the Rangers, and the D-Rays are up 2-1 on the Angels.

David Wright will probably be on the market, with a 16 mil option for next year. I'll bet the Mets will ask for the moon for him and probably will try to extend him, but it's nice to dream.
While we're dreaming, I'm already looking at Hamilton, Hamels, and Greinke on the FA market this offseason. I think Hamilton will probably re-up with the Rangers and Hamels will either stay with the Phillies or go to the Dodgers, but what the heck, it's nice to think about. With Reynolds and Gregg coming off the books this year and then Roberts and Wada the following year we should have a solid chunk of money freed up to add to this team (or extend our players) if it looks like we're entering a competitive window.
I feel like these delusions only onset when the O's are hot at the beginning of the season, so there's no better place to put them than in this awesome thread.

Seriously. He would look great in any lineup. But with that short porch in RF? Even coming out of Arlington, he'd put up monster numbers here. Plus I feel like him and Reimold would be a perfect LF/DH combination. Both high-energy, high injury guys, particularly with leg injuries. Rotating them in and out to keep them fresh, maybe getting some reps at 1B.
Realistically, Hamilton would need to seriously cool off and/or get injured this season to have any chance of ending up here. TEX would need to think that he is too risky to invest in or feel like they don't have the payroll to afford him, and the O's would really need to go out on a limb and throw down a monster offer despite his apparent injury risk.
I think LAD are going to spend big to land Hamels or Greinke. But with LAA, NYY, PHI, TEX, DET and BOS pushing high payrolls and potential luxury tax and CHC and NYM in rebuilding mode, the other classic big spenders outside of LAD aren't going to be there in full force this offseason. If the O's make waves this season and establish themselves as a respectable destination for FA and demonstrate a willingness to spend money (BIG IF's), anything can happen.

I feel pretty comfortable putting down some money for some O's World Series tickets. What happens in the first month is always pretty consistent with what happens the rest of the year...right? Right?
Whatever helps me sleep at night.

Back alone at the top (Rays play later tonight though).
Come from behind 5 run ninth to win--winners find a way.

The Rays got off to a blazing start this season, but it was only a matter of time until they had to play us head-on.
Their luck had to run out sometime.

With the Blue Jays beating the Yankees today for the 2-game sweep, the Checkbook Twins are at the bottom of our division again.
