Horrible pitch. Matusz needs to get the ball DOWN!

I thought they would have went with the curve.

Poor location and now he looks like he lost his release point.

Yep. You can't go middle-up against Lawrie, even if it's 94 MPH.

He does, but he's not very consistent with location. We've bailed him so far by swinging away early in the count. He will put men on if you give him the chance.

I think Palmer has it - he's not staying closed which affects his release point.

    I'm not overly-impressed by Paulino's game-calling.

Looks like Matusz has much better command over his breaking stuff today than his fastball and change.

At least Markakis took control of that fly ball. Too many times last year he would let the 2b take it and it was his ball

If it was 94 at least we could be encouraged. But it was a change at 84.

Wieters used to use Matusz's off-speed stuff to get him back on track. He stays closed on those more consistently than on his FB.

I didn't see it. I was just making a hypothetical point (though I assumed it was a FB).

Yeah, maybe it's mostly just the FB that Matusz is having trouble with today. Matusz just threw a perfectly located change up down and away to fan Davis.
