Great job by Matusz to pitch around the error.

Up in the zone but adequate result.

The error does hurt, Mr. Hunter. It increased the pitch count. Effect isn't measured only in runs.

His last few sequences were really good. Before the error, and then to Lawrie. Encouraging.

VERY good inning for Matusz. A groundball single, a backwards K, a foulout, a groundball error, and a weak flyball to right.

He hit 92 a few times and kept the ball down.

Matusz looks very good. He's locating his pitches, more tilt on his slider (though he hasn't gotten it down in the zone yet), and seems to have a much better feel for his change-up. Plus...he got 4 outs.

Matusz is going to pitch up in the zone some. That's why his velocity is so important: the differential/velocity allow him to go up on guys at 91-92. He also tends to stay up a bit on his curve, particularly when he throws it as a first pitch.

If anyone is wondering, the gun in Toronto seems accurate according to Pfx.

I know. I have a feeling our 3B defense is going to be a real thorn in our side as this season goes on.
