The Tides' defense strikes again.
3 of the 6 runs were unearned.
Also, Bradley gave up 1 run in the first 6 innings before running into trouble in the 7th.
That 1 run in the first 6 innings was from a solo home run from former AAA-Tides Michael Costanzo.

It's pretty hard to make excuses for a 26 year old in AAA after years in the majors with an ERA of 6.17. Is this guy kaput?

I think Brad Bergesen has become the Nick Markakis of pitchers in a way. He's been constantly tinkering with his mechanics over the last 2-3 years, trying to find the form and sinker he had as a rookie. In trying to find out what works best, he's regressed. So how did he ever get away from the mechanics that he had in the first place?

Well, memory become hazy after awhile, but it was my opinion that hitters started laying off the sinker and they were ultimately being called balls. Then he started getting them up and they got hit. Then he went to the 4 seamer for more vel and better command. That worked ok for a bit until hitters adjusted. Then he had no real secondary pitches to speak of, especially against LH batters. In general, I think sinker ball pitchers have a pretty high failure/inconsistency rate and Bergy was just a flawed pitcher from the start.

I see Josh Bell in your lineup. Didn't we lose him to Arizona?

Much better over his last two starts. Hopefully, Britton is coming back soon and we have some insurance with Bergesen and Berken and maybe Piniero if he's okay. This way there will be no worries when Eveland is sent down again and risk being lost.
