I don't like paying 3.6 million for a 6-7 inning guy but he has pitched well. I would much rather they flip him for prospects then pick up his 4 million option.

If we're going to overpay a guy, at least overpay a guy who is playing well. That's really a step up from what we've been doing. That said, if we can get a decent haul then we should definitely do it. But until then, I don't mind having a small sense of security that we'll get through the 7th inning.

To be honest, I'm not enamored with Lindstrom thus far. I have difficulty believing that his delivery is repeatable to the point where he can locate his pitches, and his windup reminds me a little bit of Mike Gonzalez. Also, against the Jays it seemed every pitch was either way outside of the zone or right down the middle of the plate. I still would like to see more before I'm comfortable.

His FB doesn't impress me as much as I thought it would, but his ability to pitch is far better than I remember it being earlier in his career.

Whether they flip Lindstrom or keep him, four years of Hammel and Lindstrom for one year of Guthrie was a masterful trade by Duquette. Throw the Bedard and Tejada trade out the window - and they were good ones. The Guthrie and Koji trades that netted two solid starting pitchers, one hard throwing reliever and a starting first baseman, were just incredible. Especially when you consider the ages and amount of team control over Hunter and Davis. One trade by MacPhail (the better of the two) and one by Duquette really helped to improve this team.

I'm not sure I would call it masterful yet, but I like the trade a lot more now that I did when it first happened.
