How many Days would it take for Brian Roberts to play for the Orioles if he is Healthy
And if the answer is about 30 to 40, shouldn't we put him on the 60 DL for the 40 man spot? It would be backdated.

I thought he should go on the 60-day DL to begin the season. There's no way he's going to be ready soon to play at a Major League level.

Great point Weamy. I thought this weeks ago when I first heard he was on the 15. Today is seemingly has some consequences.

Well they showed him in the dugout a few times last night. You'd think he'd need to be playing in the minors for a week or two to be ready. So Id say its not even close.

Wasn't he just put on the 15 day DL to be able to travel with the team and be at Opening Day.
If he is put on the 60 day DL to open the season he would have had to stay back in FL and not be with the team.
I think he just wants to be with the team.

Bell won't be claimed. Book it.
I cannot imagine BRob playing without at least a 3-week rehab stint, maybe a full month. I'm not sure why he wasn't placed on the 60-day DL, it seems more like a politicial decision than a baseball decision. I would guess that they will know in the next 2 weeks or so whether BRob is going to go on rehab, now that he has done some traveling with the team and has been in the dugout during games, etc.

Brian needs to travel with the team and track games in the dugout as part of his rehab process. Who knows where he is now, with that? He could be assigned to Norfolk or Bowie when we come off the road, and be ready in two weeks, if he plays well without problems.

Indeed if his problems were as much psychological (not sure that's the correct term for concussion after-effects) as physical, as demonstrated by the Fanfest thing where he couldn't be in a crowd, its probably better to have him in the dugout getting used to 40,000 screaming fans than in an empty training room in Florida, otherwise you're looking at a system shock type situation the first time he comes to bat.
As to the other thing, does anyone believe Josh Bell still has a future in baseball. Haven't we already seen what he can do at the ML level and he was atrocious at AAA last year. At this point he's expendable AAAA depth, if that. I can't imagine teams clamoring to claim him off waivers, and if they do: whatever.

We don't really need an extra 40-man spot, so to me it's more beneficial for Brian to be with the team. Especially since experiencing the game and crowds is really part of the rehab process. That needs to happen.
If someone amazing becomes available, then you can make the 60-day move if need be.

Roberts isn't coming back. He should retire and stop stealing money from the Orioles. He has taken enough.
